Re: The Four months of not winter - 2020
Feels like winter here.
-1 on the patio at the moment.
First cold weather season in 3 years we have had to use heat...but wood framed corner unit not as well insulated I guess as a concrete building in a middle unit with 3 of 4 walls facing interior.

Minus One Jsmth, does Not A Winter Make...you wait till it feels like -30 with the windchill, which isn’t nice, but I know some have it much worse, Caretaker’s world always sounds much worse than NB.
Considering we are living in a world gone mad, the weather here hasn’t been bad here in our bit, I am horrified by how ‘turn to winter’ some of you have already become...especially bearing in mind that last April we were shovelling snow in face masks whilst awaiting attacks from killer hornets, that thankfully never came...
I vote that we ask Bristol to decide when he thinks the time might be right for A Winter Thread? Is it a frostiness in the garden, or a chill to the soul Or indeed a date on the calendar by a government edict?

I spent a winter in Edmonton, there were days the inside of my freezer was warmer than outside.
Spent time working at the airport there too, never had to wear so much clothing in my life while at work.....
One reason I stay in Southern BC, even in the interior winter isn't terribly bad, most of the rest of Canada is simply too cold in winter, and too humid in summer.

I couldn’t agree more...horrible climate in bits of this country... I feel that Canadians who are marriageable material should come with full climactic instructions...my husband never mentioned snow banks

It's really easy to encounter zero visability going either way over the summit of Kootenay Pass, not just from blowing snow, but from fog. This doesn't look too bad, but I've found that once you're headed downhill (seems more often heading west) the fog can be impenetrable.

Had a nice snowfall yesterday here, with all the predictable accidents. Beautiful blue skies today with the snow sparkling, although it is starting to melt.

14 for us, but its cloudy and light rain here and there, each day this week is supposed to get a little cooler, so looks like today might be the warmest day, but the other days are sunny, so rather be colder and sunny than warmer and cloudy.

Today was quite lovely blue sky, sunshine, 17c - once the Alberta Clipper went through it appeared to have bought better weather! 17c forecast again for Monday, but with the possibility of rain.
My carrots and beetroot can stay in a bit longer - as can the broccolli, kale and sprouts
