Blah. I'll be nominating that post for the the Most Words With Least Content 2016 Award.

FWIW I understood post #90 as being much more educated, learned, literate, scholarly, well-read, academic, erudite and civilized than post #88.

Need I go on....

Please do go on. I haven't seen our resident university professor seriously work someone over for quite a while. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm up for that. I wasn't aware that Novo was a university professor and I have to say that it doesn't impress me in the least.
I've been worked over by professionals.

It is like watching an episode of "Grumpy old men" , all clearly having a lot of time on their hands and wading in knowledge and experience ... Maybe we could get them South of the border to reconsider their Candidates....

"wading in knowledge and experience'...thank you, thank you...those words have lifted the alzheimer's cloud that has blanked this 79 y/o's brain for a while.
Now if only I can get back to my previous practical thesis of determining.."why the female orgasm?"....I'll be renewed...heck, I might even discover religion.
Cannot help with the problems down South...but I've had more laughs than watching 'Grumpy Old Men' and the 'Trump for Pres' series is continuing...

Thanks for the link to the documentary...it parallels what I've been advocating on this thread and what I'd been saying to all my friends in Vancouver when I was there for all of June+...then I noted the documentary was made in June...?

I backtracked and saw one of the realtor's sign is from a friend of mine. He's of Indian ethnicity and used to moor his boat near mine in a downtown marina.

B.C. foreign buyer tax won't make big dent in housing affordability, experts say - Business - CBC News

10% of sales involve foreigners[ [source CBC]

Experts are expressing doubt a property transfer tax on foreign buyers that takes effect Tuesday will have a significant impact on housing affordability in Metro Vancouver.

The next four to six months will be uncertain until the different players in the market decide how to react to the 15 per cent tax, said Anne McMullin, president of the non-profit industry association Urban Development Institute.

The tax legislated by B.C.'s Liberal government last week will apply to foreigners purchasing residential property in Metro Vancouver.

Data released by the province shows that nearly 10 per cent of property transfers in Metro Vancouver during a five-week period from June 10 to July 14 involved foreign nationals

I don't imagine anyone expects this sort of tax to change house prices. It is, however, a useful source of funds for the government at the expense of an unpopular minority; a minority that is subject to taxation but has no representation.

Where in the world does anyone, who are NOT citizens, have representation... whether they pay taxes or not!

EU is NOT a country with citizens...my passport says European Union on the top but says I'm a UK citizen and the Passport belongs to UK....I believe all other members of EU are similar.
Please explain how non-citizens are represented in France as per the general meaning behind 'Taxation without Representation'.....which created the revolutionary war for USA independance.

That was me. However, my point was not that foreigners should be able to vote, just that robbing them is only social acceptable because they're foreign.

Can't people who are permanent residents of Canada, but not citizens, vote in municipal elections?
