This link has the options for type of rum, price range and ratings
Best Rum Comparison - Reviews and Ratings
I prefer the amber rums over the dark or spiced and as a last resort would drink a white rum. I have a preference for the Appleton 12 year old for reasonable price range.

I'm not particularly but lately its becoming a bit of a thing. It's wonderful on the water especially when its a bit chilly. But any place that grows sugar cane will produce a rum, just depends what flavors you like in it. I gave my mate a bottle of Mount Gay, Extra Old (I wonder if he's sipping it straight ) but I was given a bottle of Fijian honey rum for Christmas which is really nice although I don't think you can buy that from the BCLC.

I'm thinking somewhere around around the region of your basic single malt - $40 to $60 maybe.
Which this is - I'll look out for it next time I'm at the offy.

Love Mount Gay rum (extra old) - a friend of my son from Barbados came to stay with us a few years back and bought me a bottle of it.. wonderful stuff!

I like Guyanan rum, made from cane grown along the Demerara River. It's a matter of taste and there are so many choices now..... except for Demerara rums. In Sask the only one is good old Lemon Hart, (they took London Dock off the list), so when I come back from BC I bring a few bottles of Young's Old Sam, which is full of flavour. I like Cuban, Nicaraguan, Dominican, (not bought Jamaican for a decade, tastes change).. Cockspur and Screech, (like Old Sam bottled by the Newfoundland Liquor Co.) are perfectly acceptable pirate rums. Don't touch anything they make out of sugar-beets in Alberta, not the rum, vodka, and especially not the Slivovitcz. The Jamaican overproof Wray & Nephew (the green bottle) belongs under the sink with the cleansers, (I have a scar). Stroh is wonderfull, overproof, one drop on your tongue tastes like a rum & butter candy bar. My friend brought it from Europe via duty free, said that's what the old Nazis put in their tea. I have to look in one of the specialty stores to see if it's available.
ps: There's a pretty good Rum Ratings app; like the Delectables wine app you can just aim it at a label in the store and it will conjure up reviews;
