FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ - Matches - FIFA.com

Did anyone know this competition has started?

It's here, in Canada!

Anyone going to any of the matches?

Anyone care?

I went to an 'event' for it on Friday night...only for the fireworks mind.

I watched a few games from 2011 and it was actually quite decent, apart from the near guarantee of a long range, on target, looping shot going in because the keepers don't appear able to jump with their arms up.

Brazilian team aside, it was also nice not to see players taking a tumble whenever an opponent got "too close" to them.

I was interested in going - especially as a couple of England's group games are in Moncton - but then it's not cheap. I was checking prices over the weekend. Something like $70 for the lowest price, behind the goal, at the back.

There's a 'Fanzone' downtown (with beer tent) with a big screen for games from the other cities, so I might pop along and check that out after watching on TV to see who's any good.

I went on Sat to opener. It was great.

The lack of advertising/ awareness for this is a real shame. the U20 "dry run" last year went almost totally unnoticed- I only picked up on the semi finals when I noticed Nigeria had got through... none of my Nigerian friends even knew about it.

Seems to be happening again- though to be fair to Toronto there is something rather bigger coming up next month.

So the rumour is true Rob Ford is announcing his intention to run for Prime Minister in the 2019 election.

Canada were lucky to get that pen in the dying minutes there I thinks. Bit of a home team ref decision IMO :o

Not when I looked at the weekend - it's about 80% sold out.

The first site I checked there's not an option for just one ticket.

The cheapest available was $157.95. Including fees, total for two is $399.22.

On ticketmaster I ask for cheapest available for one and it's $84.50. It's $51.70 each if I agree to buy four

Correction...best available is not best price as I initially thought. $33 at the back of the stand behind the goal. My behind the goal game watching days are long over.

Tickets in Vancouver start at $20.15. There might not be any left now.

Just did a ticketmaster check. Many of the venues say "not many left" but Vancouver didn't.
I think $31 is available.

There are $25 tickets available on Ticketmaster ($33 with fees) this is the price for two matches:

FRA v. ENG and COL v. MEX

Can you buy them at the stadium?

Today my eyes will be following the Swedish #9 Kasovare Asllani and hoping she scores and whips off her shirt or is involved in a sliding tackle that results in her shorts somehow ending up around her knees.

She is described as one of the 24 hottest women football players as seen in this link
24 Hottest Women Footballers 2015 FIFA World Cup

I just corrected moments ago :)

I don't believe one can pay on the day or buy direct from the venue if the local paper is accurate.

$33 at the back of the stand behind the goal. As I added in my edit, my behind the goal watching days are well over.

I can't think of many occasions when I'd want to watch one game and then another. I struggle to do that on weekends from the comfort of my armchair and then there's a far greater interest for me.

Personally I think they should charge for the first game and give some sort of refund for staying for the second game as some sort of incentive/compensation for being attacked by mosquitoes for the extra couple of hours.
