Re: Favourie/irritating adverts

The one about them stupid sunglasses, "European style" :frown:

Also some of the ones on Shaw's channel selection page are pretty damn irritating.

My favorite one would have to be the Staples one, "Its the most wonderful time of the year"

My favorite at the moment would have to be the Cadbury's advert with the 2 kids and the scary eyebrows  kinda freaky, but funny too

Re: Favourie/irritating adverts

my three worst have been mentioned, Slap Chop, HD vision wrap arounds and the kids with the eyebrows.

From last year its the Peptobismol Lady.

Any advert that has the participants nodding (ie the Tresemme (sp?) guy with the ultra white teeth ) has me twitching.

Favourite one by a mile is this one (you have to watch this) and possibly my favourite of all time is this one from Heineken

(sorry its the foreign version - my dial up connection is especially slow today and I am not waiting 5 weeks to trawl through you tube for the English language version)!

Re: Favourie/irritating adverts

Unsurprisingly, I find them all intensely irritating. Oh, now and again there's one which causes a twitch of mirth the first time it's on, but then it will be rebroadcast ad nauseam just like the rest of the shit.

Ugh, I HATE this commercial!!! Mainly because I hate screaming/shrieking in all it's shapes and forms - I have never known anyone, male or female, who actually screams with excitement, and if I did they would probably feel my fist pretty quickly.

I hate all Rogers adverts especially the ones with the 'cool' i.e. incredibly annoying students in them :frown: I'd never buy a Rogers phone now!

Also can't stand the Heinekin one............and most adverts on TV here actually, they are just annoying, I miss funny adverts. And I miss Billy Mays:(

I like the Dairy Milk one with the kids eyebrow dance too....

No idea at all what it has to do with selling chocolate, but it makes me laugh anyway.

Mostly I just fast forward through commercials nowadays.

I'm aware of Vince's past..my son isn't...he finds him quite annoying but he'll still watch the commercial if it is on. I wouldn't recognize Vince in that mug shot

Here is a different interpretation of the infamous Sham Wow commercial

It's the colour of the girl's dress. Same as the wrapper. Association, innit?

Silk Cut ciggies used the same principle years ago, when direct advertising got banned. Come to think of it, they had the same colour.

Colour is used a lot in advertising and branding.

Slap Chop and Sham Wow are pretty bad. The other one that stands out for me is the Dollars for Gold advert where the guy with the English accent shouts through the whole advert.

There is also an advert for some sort of blender thing where there is a couple (he sounds English) who wizz up pesto sauce etc in 10 secs to the "amazement" of the hand picked open mouthed audience.

What are these adverts you speak of?:sneaky::p

Isn't this what PVR's are for, to avoid such intrusions?

Guessing you don't watch any sports then?

PVR'ing a live event and watching it later takes the fun out of it IMO...

Not on TV, no.

However if you don't know the outcome then recording and playing back later works quite well. :p

Well then I guess you won't be watching Pitchmen

The english, Dollars for Gold, guy is Sully.

I now remember the awe inspiring pesto sauce advert.

Ah the Magic Bullet ad, with "Frank & Mimi"!!!! Sooooo annoying, plus a useless product.

Slap Chop ad is annoying, but amusing at the same time, partly as Vince got busted for slapping a hooker, and I recall the tag line for the ad being, for a short while "Be like Vince and slap your troubles away" :D

The Castrol ad with the scottish chap whacking people with a dipstick is annoying.

I agree the "cool students" Roger's ads are seriously annoying, the one where the chap is sliding the keyboard in and out makes me want to take the phone and batter him with it whilst saying "fist in, fist out!" grrrr :D

The Fido ads with people having issues with their land lines and then switching to Fido are starting to annoy me.

I checked out your link and recognised the other gentleman from the pitchmen - the one with the beard. Didn't realise he had died earlier this year which is obviously very sad etc. I remember seeing him do an advert for some type of cleaning product which at the time I thought was probably the "shoutiest" advert I had ever seen.

Another one I saw yesterday which I hadn't seen for a while is the "loud n clear" hearing aid. So bad you might think it's a spoof advert.

Loud and clear is annoying, especially the bit when the kids are in the park and they shout 'wait for me' it sounds like a bloke with tight trousers on. Snuggies is another one. Favourites.....'Viva viagra" really make me laugh cause they are so false:rofl:
