You did notice that the thread refers to "CURRENT" TV shows.

I hardly watch television at all... a bit of Discovery Channel, that's it. Not even the news.

We've been picking away at Merlin via Netflix.

Although I find the story development a little slow (and the overuse of the phrase "I owe him my life!" quite annoying), it's otherwise pretty good. It looks great, has some decent visual effects and is sometimes quite funny (the troll episodes were hilarious).

I read about Page Eight last week and I made a note of it. Watching The Hour was a bit like watching something from Dennis Potter. Hopefully the rest will be as good.

It's based on the book. This is what happens in it so not at all for those reason

River Monsters (Discovery Channel). My Son and I love this. I'm not an angler myself, but Jeremy Wade is a true, no-nonsense adventurer.

Well then the book's crap. I suppose in the book it would work, but on a TV show it doesn't because Sean Bean was the best actor in it. Without him it's weak.

I was too busy focused on the physical attributes of the female cast members to notice acting ability

The book was written long before Sean Bean was cast in the series. If anything, the fault would lie with the casting of Sean Bean in the role.
