EU Referendum Pulse Check

The big day is almost upon us, and I was wondering what the general sentiment was in here. Vote!

(Votes are set to anonymous)

Statistically meaningless sample size, but interesting nonetheless that more Leave voters as a percentage of their total were driven to vote than the Remain camp...

I guess it's true - when people are voting against something they are more likely to actually vote... (as per John Oliver last Sunday on Brexit, and gun control).

Agreed, re sample size, but I have consistently said that it is easy to find (British) people enthusiastic about leaving, but much harder to find people exited about all that membership of the EU has to offer.

That's the scary part - despite Leave being a minority they are more motivated to actually vote, than the apathetic Remain majority who feel it will all work out alright in the end.

Hi,

I did a postal vote (then couriered it back to England).

Did anyone trust the 'postage paid' statement on the return envelope for the ballot paper?

I assumed the US Postal Service wouldn't recognize it, so I slapped a stamp on it.

You can't assume the 'didn't actually vote' responses to this particular poll had the ability or access to vote though. I'm interested in the outcome, and the debate, but I've no right to vote.

I actually considered that, but decided 7 options was overkill.

I sent it back with the included postage paid. The envelope was different than how the directions described it (no window on the outer envelope), because it had the special international billing account number at the top.

Little reason to doubt it would arrive.

Results so far 823 leave 19322 remain. Although I think that is the result from Gibraltar so perhaps not surprising.

Leave appear to have done rather better than predicted/expected than in Sunderland; remain scraped by in Newcastle.

I'm following the Grauniad live blog.
