England Euro Qualifier

What a crock of bollox. Capello has made only a couple of changes to the floppy bastards who balls up the World Cup for us. I'm not even going bother to take the afternoon off and go and have a pint or two and watch it tomorrow afternoon at 12pm Pacific time. ALthough it looks like we have an easy enough group to get through.

With Ingerlund's new defence it's good for Crapello that Berbatov is retired from intl football. Switzerland aren't easy to beat - reckon a nil nil over there is on the cards.

Won't watch either game, not worth getting up in the wee hours.

I dont see who else he should be picking really:confused: but then given my fantasy footy standing I'm not qualified to comment.

No one was exactly clamouring that the wrong players were going to the world cup as I recall. They just played without any energy or guile. One you expect from them, one not so much.

No problem...it will be on UK Nova in a few hours and on Setanta Canada @ 19h00 EST on Sunday...this feed is via Setanta Australia which seems to be a direct feed from Setanta Ireland.

If I may so bold as to butt in with a big  for wee N.Ireland.

1-0 against Slovenia. Next stop, er, Italy.

There will be some party tonight and I'm sad to be missing it. Oh, and England did rather well.

ATDHE is usually excellent. That one and Channelsurfing.net....it's almost as if they only list them if they're any good. :)

See posts 5 and 15 atdhe.net and channelsurfing.net. They have lists.

This is a good back up.

This one is working right now

I did some checking and this feed is from Al Jazeera Sports 3 in English with Tim Sherwood as a h/t pundit.

Apparently, the Switzerland game will be on TSN2 tonight @ 20h eastern time....ignore the 'bowling' that is listed on the on screen programming...too bad I caught parts of it via the web courtesy of Al Jazeera Sports.....I honestly can't remember the last time an England competitive game was on anything but PPV or Setanta.

I wish TSN had said that earlier because I'd have avoided the score and got the beers in. :frown:

CBC in the world cup?

Or did you mean we didn't compete?

Er, what I really meant was an England game as either a friendly or a qualifier for a tournament......which have traditionally been PPV or Setanta (and then never live).

I don't believe that Setanta had the England/Switzerland game in their schedule to play in a few days and TSN2 must have quickly purchased the broadcast rights with little notice.

I don't believe that Setanta Australia were broadcasting it as my online feed was via Al Jazeera Sports

How could you tell? I just googled Al Jazeera and Trevor Francis and that does seem to be the case, so I obviously had the same one. The presenter was someone who had been on Setanta but there were no Setanta graphics.

How do people like you know these things?

Or were you online early enough to see the channel?

Re: England Euro Qualifier

Setanta seems to a bit crap this season. Its full of rugby now which I believe was previously only available on OUTtv.

They still have three live games Sat/Sun plus live Champs League/FA Cup/League Cup.

And yesterday I watched England under 21s. Plenty of Live footie action still.:)

Still good value, I reckon.

You make a good point. I think I'll keep it for awhile to see if I watch much on there as TSN2 seem to have a few more games this year. Also, I have to get Cricket Plus or CBN to watch the Ashes which will add to the expense.

I googled the name of the girl who appeared at half time (Souness) who also referenced Al Jazeera Sports....i believe she is the adopted daughter of one sour faced Scotsman.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Jazeera_Sports#Football

This Al Jazeera sports seems like quite the channel in both arabic and english...now if only I could forget about the Osama links.

The TSN2 feed was from ESPN Int'l/ESPN3.com with Shaka Hislop doing most of the commentary (probably from ESPN HQ).

Setanta to me is still a deal...as I get 30% off the $14.95 via bundling on my internet/cell/cable bill.

I think we've just been spoilt a bit. I can't remember what the cost was for Sky before I came over but I'm sure I was paying more in 2004 than Setanta costs now, even with a worse exchange rate, and we didn't get the 3..00 Saturday KO then.

Of course, Sky Sports did offer plenty of other things that Setanta doesn't but you'd have to be a major fan of several sports to have watched a lot. Rugby League would be nice - Setanta used to do it.

I do miss Soccer Am...that was a laugh. Tiswas for footie fans.

I'm informed that Soccer AM went shit & unfunny. I'd watch it again if they brought in Sally James, not that Torquay dog.
