Election news

Is there any, are the exit polls giving any indication?

Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence party was in a plane crash this morning. It was a light aircraft streaming a banner saying 'Vote UKIP, Bollocks To Europe' (or something similar). Both he and the pilot were injured.

Latest data indicates a Hung parliament with the conservative 52 seats short of a majority

The exit poll data is supposed to be available just after 10pm UK time

Still second

Its quite a damming comment on the Conservatives, if you can't get a majority when the incumbent has been in 13 years and the country is ripe for a change, throw in a major recession that been dropped at the feet of the incumbent and that their leader is completely lacking in any social charm…

You’d think If the Tories had a monkey in charge you’d still expect a Conservative landslide !!!!!

I’m intrigued, is it because Cameron comes off as a bit of a drip? Or is it still the Thatcherite legacy that’s turning the voters off?

Perhaps the British public can see that the Tories have simply offered them a wannabe Tony Blair clone, and not much else?

I believe it's the whole "they are only for the rich and they are all nasty" effect. As we all know, most voters have no real idea about each parties' policies.

There is still a perception that they are (rightly or wrongly I don't know) the nasty party and the softer new image is carefully contrived.

To get a majority the conservatives need to take seats like Tynemouth which years ago used to be straightforward for them. I can't see the Cameron charm working there.

One of the constituencies up North somewhere isn't going to the polls until May 27th. That could turn out to be quite an important seat, depending on how close it all is...

The UKIP candidate in Thirsk passed away so the election in that riding is delayed by 3 weeks.

I fail to see why that should affect things. I assume that people can still vote for him.
