Default Easier for couples with kids to meet folks then childless?

Seems at our age there are not a whole lot of couples out there without kids. Everyone we know has kids, most have multiples, and a couple have kids that are nearly adults. Imagine having a near adult at our age, to us it seems so weird.

There are a fair amount of singles without kids, but they in general seem mostly interested in dating, and not worry about making friends....

Seems those with kids have a plethora of activities to attend via their kids which in turn the parents meet other parents, and become friends with some.

Look through community activity books, and generally there is a plethora of stuff for adults with kids, seniors, and such, but not a whole lot for those without kids, and a small amount of stuff for singles which sometimes are suitable for couples, but seems a fair amount are geared to meeting people to date, which of course wouldn't be something most couples would be looking for.

What say you?

Buy a M/C, meet loads of people and it's way cheaper than kids and without the attitude!

Oh come on its a great way to meet people who are as stressed as you are as a new parent.

The husband of a friend of my wife gave his wife two Christmas presents one year. This couple were having marital problems and he wanted kids and she didn't.

One gift was a book called 'What to expect when you are expecting'

The other was the Ontario Do it Yourself Divorce Kit

Subtle !!!!!

Needless to say they are no longer together.

I say, you're right. Much easier to cross paths with other parents as you suggested. Having said that, there are plenty of couples in their 50s and 60s whose kids have flown the coop, and are quite ready to socialise.

Having and walking a dog will attract attention from others, mainly dog lovers who will stop, admire your dog while you do theirs and chat. Could turn into an opportunity to socialize.

For me, one winter, this turned into an opportunity to see that a man did, in fact, have a cockerel tattooed on his bum.

I chat to people while the dogs run, it's what you do. Usually it's fine, but:

"What's your accent?"

"London"

"What team?"

"The Yids"

"Me too"

"Bollocks, you're from here"

"I can prove it..."

This in a busy dog park in central Toronto (Allen Gardens).

Yep- your story and your sticking to it

I'm not sure what is worse, being arrested for cottaging or being a Spurs fan

Ok, what is actually worse than both is me vaguely supporting Chelsea

I should not be at all bothered about being arrested for cottaging however it's no longer likely. A cottaging anecdote is that a (straight) colleague of mine has an untidy domestic life and so found himself sleeping in his car in High Park. He was awakened by an invitation to cottage expressed in the form of a tumescent member rapping on the window. It was a Honda, no one should be obliged to drive a Honda.

Don't hiss at me and your vague unpleasantness can be ignored.

How about volunteering in your community? I've met & made friends (of all ages) through volunteering, although that wasn't my objective when I started .

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

I'm treated as some sort of un-Canadian threat as I don't wish to pop out province filling babies.
