Don't feed the coyotes
http://www.albertalocalnews.com/rock.../18973909.html
This is one of my daughters friends, attacked by a coyote in his own backyard because it was 'extremely habituated to humans' who have probably been feeding it deliberately. This is the fourth coyote attack on a child since we got here and it is because some idiots are feeding them. |

That's a terrible thing but what kind of place is it where you can feed coyotes without incurring a savage social stigma? Around here one is expected to shoot them on sight. I never thought of Alberta as being populated by them effete bear and coyote hugging people!

The majority of people here accept and respect the animals, after all they were here long before we built our houses. Of course there are plenty of ignorant tourists coming through like the many cars who had to be moved on by the police last week because they had stopped on the highway to take pictures of a nearby black bear. Then last night whilst driving past Banff I saw some morons actually pullover on the slip road, get out of their car and walk into the middle of a herd of Elk! But these problem coyotes will have been attracted by certain locals and even if they are too stupid to realise the risk they are creating for themselves and others, surely they can see that in every case the only solution is to shoot the coyote. If they were named they would certainly be shamed, but I suppose it is difficult to catch them. |

Interesting though. A coyote obviously can't eat a whole one...
Sorry, non PC comment. I'll get my coat. |
