Don Cherry and curtain fabric

Re: Don Cherry and curtain fabric
Just when you start to think that maybe racism is starting to die out as the older generation moves on, you can see that it seems to be alive and active in the younger generation also. No one is born racist, it is a learned condition - where are they learning it from? It is sad and alarming and it seems to be on the rise worldwide.

One educator thinks firing Cherry means a missed opportunity to tell the real story.
"But Steven Purewal, a historian who has long researched the contribution and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during the First World War, said his immediate reaction to the news that Cherry was stepping down was one of disappointment.
“Firings and apologies don’t always work, because what they don’t do is tell the whole story…. What we need to be telling Canadians is that many, many diverse communities fought in the Great War and the Second World War. Without their contributions, we wouldn’t have the freedoms we have today.”
“To my mind, the best possible thing that could have happened was for him to have invited someone more informed on his show, and use his platform to correct what he said,” he said.

The comparison above with the Conservative candidate in the last election doesn't hold because Scheer is primarily known for being sexist and homophobic. One may reasonably guess that he's a racist too but that's not his claim to fame. Again, there's no cause for outrage, just don't vote for him, as we didn't.
Tucker Carlson, of course, achieves the trifecta.

Whether or not 30 years is true, he's stepped in it now. At 85 creeping senility is a fair call. Ron Maclean has apologised for not stopping him, and I wonder if this is going to take him down too. He's only 59 and very popular, but without Cherry he might not carry the spot, and no network will match what he's making now. I think there are retired coaches out there that can replace Cherry and keep the show going, or they can develop a new intermission show. They replaced the HNIC theme song; they can replace Coach's Corner.

I don't think anyone should really be shocked that he said what he did, he is speaking his mind, disgusting as it obviously is. He's obviously got superpowers, as he can detect someone not wearing a poppy is an immigrant.
yes, I am being sarcastic, we all know he was just being a blatant racist and to be quite blunt he was talking about non-white immigrants, regardless of his attempt to backtrack, even though he claims it's not backtracking by saying he could be talking about Scottish, or Irish immigrants, ie; white immigrants.
I see that many on twitter are dumping sportsnet / rogers over his firing, which I find rather silly, and perhaps they might not realize that this could possibly be seen by others as them endorsing his foul views.
MacLean should have stepped in and said something right then and there, and I think he should learn in the harshest possible way, by being fired, the mistake he made.

Rogers have a huge financial stake in all of Toronto's sports teams and provide media for them.
They'll all be back within a week.
Rogers stock in the green today.

He's just the old days and no matter what old people say, they weren't as good as today.
