Default Do you respect the police?

Interesting articles. I had no idea about this incident until I read these. It seems the RCMP aren't the only ones exercising "heavy handed" tactics.

More than dentists and lawyers.

Less than nurses , teachers and polish plumbers.

Next question?

I feel that the police force, wherever it is , is made up of all sorts of personalities - good and bad.

My friends son, back in the UK, joined the Metropolitan Police force a few years ago, and really looked forward to being brought into any area where there was expected to be a disturbance for example - rival soccer teams clashing. He bragged about loving to 'Get in there and give them a good hiding'. He totally lost my respect.

On the other hand, my son-in-law is training at the moment to be a police officer here in B.C. and is totally the opposite - able to look after himself, but would go by the book as far as procedures are concerned.

Generally speaking, I do respect the police force, especially if they are honest and open about any questionable outcomes, but this openness seems to be a hit and miss affair.

I respect the police as an idea; a service that carries out necessary tasks on behalf of it's public.

I do not respect some police officers.

My old sergeant used to say, "Cops are no different than plumbers, some are good and some are bad"

If it says they are mounted, I want to see them on their horses, not riding around in bloody cars. And those red coats and silly hats are very camp.

I appreciate and respect the VPD.We use their services at work when
needed.None of the nurses have negative experience from them,
they were professional, polite, caring and got the work done.

I used to when I was younger, but I find many officers these days have no respect for the public so I tend to agree with Ann M (although I have a dislike for traffic cops here).

Might have something to do with the fact they are not employed to win a popularity contest. Behave yourself behind the wheel and you should not have a problem with them...just make sure if you do have dealings with them that you don't fail the 'attitude test'.......trust me, I was that Traffic Cop...

Quite. I have no problem with cops. Why would I?

I had no problem with the cop who asked to search me in the street. He said I didn't have to let him but I didn't see any reason not to let him.
