Do you pee in the pool?

I wonder sometimes, as I swim around keeping my face out of the water.

Re: Do you pee in the pool?

 No.
As a child I was always informed that there was magic 'dye' in the water that would turn bright blue and could be seen leading back to you if you did. And to this day somewhere in the back of my mind that idea has never left me.
C'mon fess up offenders is it true? ;)

I doubt it. I do seem to recall it being part of a comedy sketch. Might have been Harry Enfield but could have just as easily been Mr Bean. Can't quite recall.

Nah, I was a child living under this threat long before those two started up.
Maybe they were threatened with it too though?

Peeing in the pool is like doing a good job at work; it gives one a strange warm sensation but no-one seems to take notice.

I remember from somewhere a quote along the lines of "The definition of a Gentleman is one who interrupts his bathing at the seaside to go to the latrine"

Quite....but I also think that the definition of a gentle person is that they eat properly, and put a knife, fork etc down and don't eat like an animal given the chance...I will die before devouring like someone I don't want to be.

Your use of the term "gentle person" reminds me that I can't recall a similar definition of "gentlewoman". :)

I always wanted to dive into the pool and glide across the bottom as I was peeing, and pretend I was in the Red Arrows...

... but I was always too scared that the dye really was there.

I've actually never heard of this urban legend, but wouldn't it be the Blue Arrows?

I was always told it was red dye. All the internet pages that I read today which say it's just an urban myth are, I'm convinced, nothing but a deliberate disinformation campaign designed exclusively to get me to stand in a rapidly-forming red cloud and thus barred from the pool.

I'll still not risk it, just in case.

Perhaps the red dye fable was designed to discourage young gentle-ladies from bathing periodically?

Slight difference in words makes a huge difference
Pee in a pool and no one cares
Pee into the pool and you get arrested !

Little kids do it when they can't be bothered to get out and go to the toilet ( we have all been lazy as children) but when you grow in and learn about all the germs and infections....

I don't use public leisure centre pools anymore for this reason...

scrubbedexpat091 Mar 11th 2014 10:52 pm

Re: Do you pee in the pool?

I don't use pools as I don't like the thought of swimming in a body of water that many others have been in before me, just grosses me out big time.

I have a pool at work, I am sure people pee in it, especially kids. And usually once a month a younger kid whose parents didn't put some sort of diaper or something on as the kid isn't potty trained will do a # 2 in the pool. Maintenance hates that, its apparently a big pain to deal with, no clue what they do, but it shuts the pool down for several hours.

Of course I do! FFS, it's 300-440 ml of sterile liquid in 35 000 L of chlorinated water. And that's just our small backyard pool. You get a good sized public pool and you're looking at 100 000 L of water.

When I was a student, I often sought to discover if I could piss a pint glass full.
No problem (454 ml).

The embarrassing part is that one time I decided to see if I could then drink it.

I could. But just the once, honest.

No.

But there is nothing like drinking in a lake and peeing at the same time.

If I were you I'd have returned the pint to the barman for pouring short measure. Is 454ml some kind of bastardized dry-measure pint? A proper one had 568ml in it last time I tried... :p
