My limit is around -5 or so, too cold past that.

I open mine for 5 mins a day (plus opening the back door for the dog) in the winter, just to get some fresh air.

As to noise - I just bought one of those air filter machines for a friend for the same reason - they swear it's better than a fan to cover the noise. It's a small tabletop one they have by their bed, ideal.

I've got an air filter as well in the bedroom, helps keep dust down as there is carpet in there which well, carpet sucks....

No, I don't open my windows in the winter...I spend an amazing amount of time at the front and back doors in the most inclement chilly weather whilst the cat decides if it wants to go out I do however air my bedding once a week certainly, and more times if I'm at home...I stuff my duvet and bedding outside for a good airing,it comes back in smelling good and we sleep better.

That reminds me of a Swiss/Austria trip years ago and seeing loads of them hanging over balcony rails or bedroom window sills every morning.

I grew in France... that's what you did. Although some guy above us dropped his cigarette on our bedding once and it burnt a hole. Wasn't so keen on doing it after that!!

We have the patio doors in our bedroom open every night unless it's warm then the air con is required.

If you have a furnace, there's a fresh air vent into the house permanently open. Turn on the extractors in the bathroom and over the cooker for 30 mins, sucks out stale air and the furnace vent will replace it.

Do none of you have air-exchangers in your house/apartment? That sucks in fresh air and exhausts stale.

Still, we open the bedroom window if its not too cold as well. (the -5C referenced is about right)

All we have is the fan in the bathroom and the fan over the stove. That is all every apartment I have ever lived in has had.

No- we spend enough heating it up, why would we waste money cooling it?

Well in a small apartment the air gets stuffy and stagnant, only way to freshen it up is to open a window and let some fresh air in.

Fair enough- think that if we were in a small apartment, living with Stinky, we would have the window open all the time

Does he stink that much? Charlee luckily being a small dog, really has no smell, but she doesn't go outside and get dirty, this time of year just getting her to go outside is a feat...lol (she hates cold, wet weather.)
