Dentists!
Having read the hairdresers thread, I hoped someone maybe able to recommend a dentist! There are so many listings it feels a bit of a lucky dip.
I've been in Calgary 3 months now and am looking for a dentist near to Downtown or around 17th Ave SW. All suggestions welcome - don't worry i wont blame anyone if i have a bad experience and my teeth fall out!! :D :D :D :D |

Re: Dentists!
I've been going to James Reid http://www.iddental.ca/index.php in the Gulf Canada building (see MMC's thread - http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...38#post6714538)
I think he is very good, and I like him much better than the guy I went to in Silver Springs as an emergency when I broke a tooth a couple of years ago .... I didn't want to see a dentist ever again after that guy, but needs must! This chap I like very much better. He bothers to stop and talk to you (even if he does ask questions when your mouth is full of instruments and half numbed!!), and will happily explain stuff and discuss options. He does seem rather prone to recommending a lot of crowns, but I'm not really surprised if my 35 yr old fillings need replacing!!! He also doesn't seem as expensive as some that my colleagues go to ..... |
Re: Dentists!
Cannot recommend one near to where you say but we have been to Ellen Fletcher at Heritage Plaza, on the corner of Macleod and Heritage (she was recommended by a BE member and had been going to her for many years. Ellen takes the time and trouble to talk to you and explain everything. We have only had check ups with her so far but last week I broke a tooth and have to have a crown (my decision rather than an even larger filling), so I will be able to report back more after the treatment.
I must say there was no pressure at all as to what treatment I should have, a crown v the heavy filling, and was told that the filling may well hold up for some time, but knowing how hard I bite on things I opted for the crown. A very nice friendly operation. :) |
Re: Dentists!
Great - thank you very much for your suggestion :D
