No jinx, Royal Mail is probably responsible. I got a pair of big fishing reels from Sheffield in 4 days and there's no way I'd bet on Canada Post matching that from anywhere in Canada. They might do it, but I'm not betting on them.

Domestically flight wise, UPS contracts out mostly to Cargojet, and Fedex uses Morning Star Express.

Neither Fedex or UPS are permitted to operate domestic flights within Canada.

True but: many of my Canada Post whinges & whines have been about incoming overseas mail arriving in Canada reasonably promptly, then taking forever to actually make it *here*, sometimes via inexplicable in-Canada detours.

See also: mentions of Royal Mail -> Canada cock-ups. .

Funny watching the mail person, in Santa hat, deliver mail then get into car, drive three houses up and deliver again and so on.

Ours has an extending mechanical arm contraption that comes out the passenger side window to open the postbox, put the stuff in, and close it again. He never remembers the little flag thing though. They drive up to the house if they have something big. No Santa hat though. Do people tip them here?

Wow. Do you keep a file on everyone? Or is it just that l'm boringly repetitive?

Have just about ruled it out this year, as it seems to be a different guy everytime.

Nothing so shady. I just remembered there had been at least one thread on tipping and one came up on a search where you mentioned it.

Does that sound convincing?

I’m going to have to stop my whinging about international mail & shipping & Canada Post .

Internet order placed 13/12/17 for an item from China, estimated delivery date 18/1/18.

I hadn’t even bothered looking at tracking it before it was delivered this morning by CP . A quick after the fact glance told me that it arrived Mississauga on the 19th, left there yesterday.

Meanwhile... regular (monthly) order from in-Canada retailer processed the same day and with estimated delivery date as Monday 18/12, shows as at Mississauga since last Friday...

Eh?

We often go past Mirabel, where there are FedEx and UPS planes parked.

Passenger flights, I believe he meant.

Canada Post - and USPS - are holding my package hostage I think! Shipped on 30th November from the US, it's been in transit ever since.

Just because they are painted in the companies colors doesn't mean they are operated by said company.

If it has a US flag on the tail and a N registration it's operated directly and those are international flights between the US and Canada. The aircraft with C registrations are not operated by Fedex and UPS, both contract out the domestic flying to Canadian based airlines.

Morning Star Express handles Fedex.

Morningstar Air Express Inc. - Home

Cargojet handles UPS

https://aircargoworld.com/allposts/c...term-contract/

Same as for example with Compass Airlines in the US, they fly aircraft painted in American Airlines and Delta Airlines colors, but those flights/aircraft are not operated by Delta or American.

The colors a plane is painted in is not indicative of what airline is actually operating them.

Parcel my mom sent finally cleared CBSA, and is in the hands of Canada Post in Vancouver, lets see how long it takes to travel the last 15 km's, it's been sitting at YVR mail processing for over a week.

I sent a parcel to the US, took 5 days to leave Canada, cleared US Customs same day it arrived in the US and delivered next day, so 2 days total once in the US to deliver.

I don't suppose you're familiar with the BBC television quiz show Mastermind?
