Daughter's 5th Birthday....
 

Any ideas what I could do for my Daughter's 5th Birthday on New Years Eve? Our house is a complete mess so we cannot have a party here, nor do we have lots of cash to hire something out. So...any ideas?

if not why not just do a small gathering of friends and a lovely 5th birthday cake, i know my little one enjoyed her 4th birthday and the people that mattered was here :thumbsup::eek:

she loved it ;)
but shes not at school yet, so no point inviting kids that are older :wub:

I did think of taking her bowling - letting her pick one friend to take along with us...though knowing her she will want all 20 of her classmates to come!

I always find that taking a few friends to the cinema works out to be a good one, and being Christmas time there must be some really good films on (haven't looked at the listings for Bayers Lake or Dartmouth Crossings though).

McDonalds Playland for us. The food sucks and its a big commercial tie in, but there is cake and a goody bag, the kids can burn off energy in the playland and best of all you dont have to tidy up after. Works out at about $6 a head.

My kid (5 at the time, now 6) was at a bowling party. Bored shitless. Too much wating around for the other kids to have a go, and kids bowling is painfully slow. Having said that she said she enjoyed it and wants to go again, but just her so less waiting. Its expensive too as generally the lanes are like $5 a kid, and then you are supplying food on top.

Too cold for an outside thing like a weiner roast in most of Canada on new years eve, but weve done that in the summer in the past, but we have a large yard and lots of room for kids to roam and play, plus the inflatable pool, swingset and trampoline to distract them too in summer. Still, there was an element of prep and tidy up that was glady missing with outsourcing to the evil clown.

I wouldnt fancy taking a bunch of 5 year olds to the cinema, they just wont all have the attention span to not get antsy, thats why McDs is a winner, fast food, cake and somewhere to run around and burn if off, all for not too much money.

I think your probably right - she would LOVE me forever if I told her she could have a party at McD's lol. I shall go forth and investigate.
