That article fails to address the three most important points 1. What is in the calendar? 2. Isn't it all getting a bit stale by day 24? 3. Do they do international delivery?

I didn't actually read that article. I linked to it having seen it in the guardian whose pics don't display on forums. There was something about a luxury advent calendar that appeared to have bottles in it. It must have been big!

Today I tutted in the coffee shop about the Christmas music in the mall.

"It's been earlier" said the lady there "one year they put the tree up in September. I like it, it's jolly". Her husband was passing "they have to put up the tree before the parade, otherwise there's a wrathful Santa". The coffee shop lady added that the parade is this coming weekend.

I bow to their knowledge of quasi-religious customs, they'd know, they're religious; she wears a hijab.

I think the Tesco boycott is to do with their not using the word Christmas on their wares? I already boycott them for more reasons than I can remember.

I couldn't say. The original Greggs shop was on Gosforth High Street. Gosforth is a slightly northern suburb of Newcastle I lived there from when I was 13 or 14 until i went to Uni.

It's since (apparently) spread throughout the UK, but I don't know why.

I've never bought anything from them except shame.

If I had the chance I'd go to Greggs...there's not much I wouldn't give right this second for a Cornish Pasty

I can never find an advent calendar here with a Nativity scene on it. Barbie and Marvel a plenty...but none with an angel on the door and a star shaped choccie inside...sad

I guess Fredericton stores deem it not worth carrying as they would probably get complaints from those who don't celebrate Christmas (there I said it) or perhaps there is a municipal law stopping the selling of such said items again on the basis of offending certain groups or there again you might be just an old fuddy duddy who celebrates the traditional way and needs to get in touch with the real world and become more hip. I mean who has time these days to open up a little cardboard door on a calendar every morning
