Recently Sainsbury's has been doing this really good crispy duck deal - £5 for half a duck (you have to 'roast' it in the oven for 35 mins), plum sauce and pancakes. Just cut up the cucumber and spring onions and voila. We've become addicted and now have it at least twice a week. Every time we eat it, my boyfriend says: 'you won't have that in Canada...'.

Is your crispy duck what I refer to as Peking Duck?

If so, you can get it in a Chinese restaurant about 500 meters from my front door. It's a flat rate all-you-can-eat sort of place populated almost entirely by Chinese folk (from Markham).

No Sir, we've made this mistake. If you order Peking Duck you get a plate of greasy cold cooked duck, no pancakes, no plum sauce - nuffink. It's a problem!

However, I think they do have it for pork on some menus called 'moshi pork' which is pretty nice.

Not where I shop mate. Pancakes, plum sauce, the works and duck. Moshi pork is also nice.

I'll have to treat you to peking duck done proper at China Buffet King on Yonge south of Major Mack.

There's a grocery store near my friend's place in Van that has chickens and ducks cooking in the back and the bbq or soya birds are great! You can also get just a soya chicken leg for $1.25 or so. I never liked the way they cleaver the birds apart so I always buy them whole and save $2 by cutting them up myself. Otherwise the only duck I get is in soup at my fave noodle house. I used to eat a lot of wild ducks when I lived at the lake and I really miss that.

Are you saying that they charge $2 extra dollars just for chopping up a bird?

I'm afraid so, and it takes about 15 seconds and leaves little sharp bits in. I think a duck was $11 or $12 and as a frozen duck is about $9 it seemed a good value. My favourite is the soya chicken though.

You eat in a Chinese Buffet style restaurant and praise it? Now, that does surprise me.
