Nice for Root. Right, I like to see a fast hostile session before tea.

Well the only ones who are going to get a result in this match are the Lords concessions.

I should say! I was "watching" it on Cricinfo, and even that was exciting. (The TV package I subscribe to doesn't bring me cricket. Brings me Rugby League games from Australia and England, though, which is nice.)
I have friends who were sat in the Edrich stand (is there a finer place to watch cricket?). Afternoon report "dribbling to a draw". They were wise enough to stay till the end though and were happier at 6:40pm |
Re: Cricket
I missed the last 5 overs as i had to go to the supermarket to buy a naffing swede as that was the only chance i had to go.
Still, good job Cook made sure we had such a big lead and didn't do anything reckless like putting them in for a little looksee last evening |

Re: Cricket
Good day for England and nice for Broady to get a hatrick.
Nice little pick me up after the naffing football yesterday:( |

Too right. Broad was rubbish in the first match but its good to see him coming back strong in the end. Him and Plunkett should give the Indians something to worry about.

Re: Cricket
Well this is going nowhere fast. They have to have a good look at Cook's tactics or even his captaincy.

I can see Cook resigning soon, problem is after KP-gate ECB have invested a lot in Cook, which to be perfectly frank, he has not justified with either his batting or captaincy. |

Now, now Oink, Cook will complain that something "needs to be done" about your harsh criticism of him like that.

Wow, what a shocker. I think Jimmy has a good cricket brain, but agree that he looks spent. If we were to drop Prior, I'd go for Read or Foster as keeper-captain short term and Root longer term (but being a Tyke, I am biased ;) ) Stokes in for Broad for 1st test vs India, who has had a poor match So we need our largest chase ever to win or 3 & a bit sessions for a draw.... |

Wow, what a shocker. Stoakes has to come back he is fit and probably should of played this match. Jordan i can't work out what his role is in the team. Ali too, looks like an ok bat and not a terrible bowler but front line spinner he aint. Cook is a useless captain, has been since he took the job. I would love to know if he even gets how bad he is. |

Re: Cricket
Oops. Weren't we supposed to have won that series, in a post Ashes-New-Dawn -For-Eng sort of way ?
Well played Moeen Ali. Who would we all like to see replace Cook as skipper ? |

Yep, seems quite a few records were broken yesterday.
Maybe they will get their act together today :hysterical: |
Re: Cricket
Oh dear.... oh dear..... Oh dear..... 202 for 7. Not watching anymore!!! :getcoat:

Re: Cricket
Now this is a little more promising.
Bit disappointed that (a) Cook didn't enforce the follow-on, and (b) didn't declare an over or two earlier to get India back in before tea. Still, they have four full sessions to knock India over, and a world-record 4th innings run chase seems somewhat unlikely from India - they'll surely be trying to bat through for a draw now? |

Overall, a much improved performance over the 4 days so far, but we need to finish it or it means nothing. And Jimmy might have to sit out the next few for being a naughty boy. |

Well tomorrow will tell if Cook got the declaration correct or not, but I can see the thinking to rest Jimmy & Broad, particularly as the latter is carrying a niggle.

Hopefully I can't see them being able to hold on to six wickets but with England you never know. It'd be nice if Jordan would contribute a bit.

Re: Cricket
Who's this team pretending to be England ? The only potential spanner in the works is the possible 4 test ban for Jimmy :(

Re: Cricket
Anybody getting KP's mud slinging fest, sorry, autobiography ? Seems to have thrown the cat among the pigeons somewhat.

Thanks for that Oink. Who knew Moeen Ali could play like this ? Now if we could only replace Cook with Hales, we might have a reasonable pair of openers.
Well, that's it then. :( |
Re: Cricket
A chilly morning, perfect to munch on some jam donuts and sip hot chocolate with whipped cream and watch England not be able to chase down 6.7 runs an over.
