Well I am now in the wonderful position of having returned home from a weekend away to a phone call from our credit cards security section , asking if I had used my card in a list of about 10 different places ( all of which I have used my card in loads of times before , sobeys, sears , bodyshop etc). Once I had confirmed that all the transactions were indeed carrie dout by me. I was told " well we have cancelled your card anyway , don't use it untill we send you a new one "!. :mad:

So it would appear that banks don't like it when other people use your card but they don't like it much when you use it either."

What is the point of having a card that the bank can just cancel on a whim?

You're quite right about the signature checking, though. It's lax to nonexistent. Not that it was *much* better in the UK, though.

I still use my UK Visa out here, and quite a few places have asked for my pin number.

Really sorry to hear of all the issues you've all had its that whole feeling violated thing when someone takes what isn't theirs.

We had one or two occasions where we were asked for pin number. Having entered it into their system they then proceeded to issue receipt and asked for signature. When we queried this we were told they are only just starting to use pin facility and they are required to ask for both pin and signature :confused:
