The Creativity Thread

Recently started doing a little bit of jewellery making after an afternoon spent at the local arts and craft centre. Hoping to do their stained glass workshop in the autumn.
I also like to bake - planning to do some Jack Daniels cupcakes today for a girl who's leaving work tomorrow.

Like another poster aside from drawing, I also restore furniture, hand paint furniture and make barnboard frames and mirrors.

Sadly, I have no creativity whatsoever - aside from the occasional flash of brilliance with a camera. Can't hold a beat, play a tune, paint, draw or anything else. Unless building a leantoo greenhouse out of 2x4 and poly sheeting counts?
The Mrs is the creative one in the family, she quilts, cross stitches and throws a mean pot.
Oh yes and PinkMcF is hiding her light under a bushel. Her Key Lime pie is to die for.

I was a trained chef, but hated it as a job so persued another career, but it has been so useful since getting married and having three sons. They are all big now 22,21 and 17 but the youngest is still at home so he gets quite fancy cakes and stuff in his lunchbox for school. I love using my cooking skills to cook for the family and my favourite hobby at the moment is making desserts and baking.
I don't know if any of you watch Masterchef Australia, but I love that program and try to emulate a lot of the recipes ( mostly the baking ones) from it. I live in South Africa, so getting some of the ingredients has proved to be a bit difficult, so I try and find substitutes.
My boys are all coming home on Friday from University, so I will be frantically cooking for the next 4 weeks, Yippee, can't wait.

Yup.
I remember looking everywhere for one a couple of years ago, but they were all too skinny or too 'sanded down' and I wanted a more rustic look.
So a friend was demolishing an old barn which still had bits of the red paint on and so on, it was perfect, so me and hubby took a trailer over there and comandeered the wood and i've made loads of picture frames - mostly for my own art, but big mirrors as well (the house is full of them!) - some with the deer horns on that hubby has shot
You guys with your rural connections should be able to get hold of some barnwood, they are not that tough to make although be careful if you are making a large frame as the bigger the plank, the more chance of warping and therefore putting a mirror in it will distort the glass.
I use a mitre saw, hot glue gun, heavy duty stapler, wire brush, router, framing tab gun and some of that foamboard for backing (keeps the weight down).

Cross stitch is my thing. Currently working on a birth sampler for my great-nephew (gee, that makes me sound old!). Need to put in some hours so I can get it finished and framed in time for my mum's visit so she can take it back to the UK with her!
I also like getting creative in the kitchen, particularly baking, which probably explains why I'm not as trim as I once was!

Post some pics people!
I was hoping to see more pics of what people make. I'm nosy like that.
I'm also a bit of an exhibitionist so here is one of my paintings that I like... still, even after two years since I painted it. It was the result of a "how to use up a wreck canvas instead of chucking it" lesson.
Before: a wrecked canvas.
After: an abstract. I know it's not to most people's tastes but I like it.
( The blue one is the after one, lol.
