Covidiot par excellence ...........
.... OR I don't have to obey the rules!
Man living in penthouse suite in a very expensive area of Vancouver has been caught having too many people in his apartment on several evenings over the last several weeks.
A week ago, the police were called again, he had a security guard outside the apartment door, who tried to stop the police entering. He got in trouble, the apartment was packed with over 100 people, all got $230 fines for not wearing masks, and the owner got a $2,300 fine for hosting a gathering
The police said it seemed that he was running an "underground" illegal nightclub.
They were called again last night. No security guard this time, but the owner refused to open the door.
The police went away, obtained a warrant to enter the place. 78 people inside, a night club set-up with some sort of show. All 78 fined $230 for attending a non-compliant event. The owner has been hauled off to jail for "obstruction of justice", and hosting.
He was released later on Sunday, has to appear in court on Feb 22.
According to media reports, he was a former wealth advisor who lost his license after forging a client's signature.
He bought the 3-level penthouse suite last November for nearly $3 million, paid in cash. There have been "Granny's" nightclub parties advertised on social media and via encrypted texts at least since New Year's Eve.
He claims that he knows nothing about any night club, and is innocent.
He has filed charges against the police for damaging his door on Jan 23.
No word on whether he can be ordered to leave the building as he owns the suite,

If its a strata he may eventually be forced out. But its not an easy process and not like evicting a renter.
The fines are too low to discourage folks like this.
Pocket change really. Now maybe if the fine was 50k or 100k it would discourage the wealthier segment of society.

I heard about this on CBC radio.
The description - upper floors and security - makes me think of an old movie. Point Blank with Lee Marvin, 1967, where his character has to get to a crook holed up in a penthouse with henchmen as his security.
And Jean Reno's Leon had to do something similar
Looks like the police did it without their help but maybe "Walker" or Leon coming after you would be a better deterrent.

They need a Cleaner, one of my all time favourite films. Gary Oldman superb.
Super Bowl this Sunday and I wonder how many unofficial parties there will be to watch it, I can see something like this where he was no doubt charging and needed to advertise would come to light.

Sounds like neighbors get better action from the police in Canada than we do here in France for misbehaving Covidiots. I should go back there maybe?

It's very random in BC as to who gets fined or in trouble, and often give a couple warnings before fining and arresting, being this guy had done this more than once, the police finally just lost patience.

Nor am I!!
I'm also beginning to think that "nearly $3 million" was very cheap for a 3 storey Penthouse (PH7) in the Telus Gardens!
His brother was his lawyer when he got bail later on Sunday.

Floor plan is interesting, as is getting that many people into such a small space.

Now condo life wouldnt be so bad in that kind of space.
Kind of surprised the listed strata fees for such a unit is only 1, 100 ish.

It is beautiful. So expensive. Such an idiot.
I'm comparing my neighborhood covidiots and although there is no comparison in regard to financial status exactly the same disregard for lives. Its universal idiocy. I still do not understand not wanting to stay living. Wierd.

Well, the owner has been charged with two counts of violating the emergency health orders of B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.............. if found guilty, maximum sentence is $25,000 and/or 6 months in jail.
