Based on the available information at this time, it appears Costco was very aware of what they were doing, and were not duped by some shady supplier.

As a single guy, I use Costco for fuel, toilet paper, laundry detergent and veggies (I have a juicer).
I calculated if I always fill up at Costco I save about $170 in fuel per year.

I heard that the Canadian Whiskey sold at CostCo south of the border is actually Crown Royal, the vodka is Ketel1 and the tequila quite respectable brandwise too.

I have no argument wth their claim that their kirkland signature products are better than the mainstream products, never found one i didnt like. Specially - their argentinian malbec wine, washing detergents, ice cream.
