Idiot doctors went on vacation to Hawaii and returned last weekend and carried on as normal despite not feeling 100% - they should know better than anyone!!

She is a doctor at a local hospital and has been confirmed as having Covid 19 - she wasn't feeling well, but still went into work at the cancer clinic - 14 patients (plus anyone in the waiting area) + 5 colleagues - and anyone else she came into contact with on her way to work, walking around the hospital, in the cafetaria etc., - all potentially infected and how many hundreds of others. Her husband is a surgeon at another local hospital - but is showing no symptoms "yet", So now it's in my city and no doubt spreading fast.

I thought the doctor who went to work after her trip wasn't showing symptoms upon her return, and as soon as she was she left work? The reports don't seem entirely clear.

I agree, but this madness is probably somewhere deep inside in all of us.
Coincidentally I received an email from a cousin of mine this morning who tells me that she'll not be going on any more cruises.
She went on to tell me that they've all been good apart from one terrible cruise around the greek islands where she became quite ill. She went on to explain that she had to hide before boarding the plane back to the UK or they wouldn't have let her board. Had this been in the age of the coronavirus then there's no telling how many would have been infected, in fact I wonder whether she did infect anyone, guess we'll never know.
This type of behaviour is completely irrational and dangerous and she's normally quite sensible but the need to get back to the UK probably trumped sanity.
But doctors, well 'physician heal thyself' doesn't quite cut it.

It seems straightforward.• The physician had travelled to Hawaii and returned Saturday. She was not symptomatic on her journey home.

• On Monday afternoon, she was working at the Juravinski Cancer Centre.

• She became symptomatic on Monday. She had mild respiratory symptoms but did not have a cough, was not sneezing and did not have a fever.

Man who attended a large conference in Toronto has tested positive for the virus.

"Our focus is on breaking the chain of transmission to limit the spread of infection and as a precautionary measure, we are asking those who attended PDAC 2020 to monitor for symptoms for 14 days,” said Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, Sudbury’s medical officer of health."

"Health officials said that while the investigation into his case is still ongoing, he attended the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada convention in Toronto on March 2 and 3."

46 cases now in BC, 7 more confirmed today. Climbs everyday it seems.

What is this meant to mean? How would you ever know? I think I feel dodgy from the end of October until the end of May. I puff and blow like a Walrus all through winter, and all of my colleagues do too?

I fear that I might be obsessing about this, now every time I catch a breath I’m wondering if I’ve got ‘it’. I feel stupid for thinking about it, my brain tells me “no problem” but an odd far flung corner of conscience shouts “we’re doomed”. I don’t think that instant info and social media probably help either.

This would have to be provincial level, but I wish they would enact some emergency protections for renters and prohibit evictions if put under isolation or quarantine or otherwise can't pay rent due to COVID, renters are in a more precarious position, banks don't foreclose nearly as quickly for non-payment, where miss rent, landlord can issue 10 days notice to vacate. I'd like to think landlords would be more more understanding, but my experience with BC landlords is they are not understanding and rarely willing to work with a tenant.

That would be for people not cargo. Obvs a driver is needed but halting other crossings would help

Is anyone considering cancelling or postponing travel to the UK or mainland Europe over the summer (July-August) period?

I'm still looking to go to Malta at the end of August however obviously don't want to put myself or anyone else at risk. Debating whether to book flights now (while the free changes/cancellations are in effect) or wait. Currently the Maltese government has forced quarantine on all those coming from Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, or Spain. Not sure how long measures like these will last.

I have a similar problem in that I was planning to go and see my mother in the UK along with family members who would travel from Switzerland, Vancouver and Afghanistan. We'll likely have to rearrange. No one ever wants to go to Vancouver and Switzerland is likely to be quarantined so, I suppose, we'll all have to go to Afghanistan. My mother will hate that, she didn't like Bulgaria because the brickwork was poorly pointed, Afghanistan will be architecturally even worse.

Wonder what implications this will have on high school graduation. I have a sibling graduating this year.

Also the employment of EAs and other support staff. Their agreements aren't as strong as the teachers and they may stand to lose money over this.

Funny how the coronavirus has drowned out all this talk of the teachers strike.....

All schools should probably be closed nationwide seems silly to keep schools open while at the same time being told to avoid gatherings and do social distancing but keep sending students to school everyday.

At least spring break is coming up, tomorrow is the last day of school in Vancouver for 2 weeks.

Based on how often kids and parents seem to be sick, I would say they are excellent places for a virus to spread.

I hope not. I'm supposed to graduate in Dec. and i've already been through the faculty strike in 2017. Just want to get out and be done so I can start the rest of my life now.

Theoretically they can do our labs remotely but they would have to give us remote access to the college network which politically is a minefield.

I am wondering if My daughter will be able to go to the festival she has prebooked in Vegas, followed by coming home for a week when my sister, niece her hubs and daughter and nephew, are due to be here. I am also wondering if events will be cancelled that we have planned, due to attempt to show a completely untrained puppy with an untrained human at the beginning of April. There has been a case in the Central zone of Alberta, probably Red Deer but could be anywhere in Central AB. I work Fast Food (lots of hand washing). Hubs said that all the service bookings for vehicles where he works were cancelled.

She may want to reconsider, the spread in the US is more widespread then is known because of lack of testing, and there has already been at least one case in Canada linked to travel to Las Vegas.

Re: Coronavirus

OK, so apparently there might be 10,000 cases of Coronavirus in the UK, close to Italy's 12,000. This contradicts the 500-or-so official documented cases released so far.
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world...ed/ar-BB116qc2

If that becomes the official number then I think flight cancellations to and from the UK are highly likely.

Re: Coronavirus

I have decided to cancel my trip to Florida next week. Numbers of infection getting higher in the US daily and that's just the number they know about, testing there being limited due to their health care system and slow response to the outbreak by the Administration. It's not so much while down there, it's getting there, train, airport, flight etc. That and my medical insurance won't cover me if I had to be admitted at a hospital down there as virus known before it was taken out. All that and my pre condition (asthma) which no longer bothers me but still there, and of course, my age. It's not going to get any better over the next few days, opposite will be the case....so calling it now.
