Very low case counts but as we have seen these are very small towns in cottage/lake country so the potential for counts to rise due to travellers from other regions I guess is a deciding factor for these types of areas to be included in the Province wide lockdown.

Yes and it's a hot fishing destination; besides the through traffic there would normally be a lot more people in the area with their campers and boats. I see in that Kenora paper that the border closure between Manitoba and Ontario has been extended too which will help. The start of the Canadian Shield in eastern Manitoba and into the Rainy River country is one of the prettier places I've been through.

It'll be interesting to see how the extended lockdown impacts the upcoming long weekend. I think someone asked Ford at his announcement yesterday how they were going to deal with that, and I believe not a single response was forthcoming. I suspect it's because he knows, and we know that people, including quite a few who have been following the rules all along, hit the button marked "**** it" and go out and have some fun. Somewhat unwise, but people had booked the odd trip here an there, for example a camping trip, and the goalposts get moved again.

At least you can easily spot them now.

Equally as piss poor as the concern Amazon have for their workers in distribution centres!

Sounds like the Indian variant may throw a spanner in the works for the UK reopening in June. I hate these poxy variants. I hope it doesn't make its way over here.

Is this a different variant than the Indian variant that arrived already?

Maybe I missed the strain number in the article, but I didn't see it so not sure if its the same, or if there are more than one variant connected to India.

Plenty of concerns amongst the scientists on whether opening up in the midst of the Indian strain is wise of not. The advice seems to be remain cautious. Something I'll heed for several more weeks until it's clear whether the virus is under control or not.

They're preparing to vaccinate this age group in BC within the week. They're planning on doing it in school.
