God damn, the UK has definitely got its shit together when it comes to administering COVID inoculations. Almost 13m so far.

They do indeed. A relative was phoned today and given an appointment for the vaccine tomorrow. She was 65 two days ago.

Good news indeed JG - it seems the UK are categorising the age of people as well as other factors at a much faster rate, unlike Ontario.
https://covid-19.ontario.ca/getting-covid-19-vaccine-ontario#phase-2
Increasing stock of vaccines, available to all health care workers, residents in long-term care homes, retirement homes, home care patients with chronic conditions and additional Indigenous communities
Older adults, beginning with those 80 and older and decreasing in five-year increments over the course of the vaccine rollout (the rollout runs until July)

Starting: March 2021
Stage 3
Vaccines available widely across Ontario for anyone who wants to be immunized (depending on availability of vaccines)
Starting: August 2021

Good news for them.

Now if we could just get a nice consistent supply to Canada we might be able to catch up a bit.

Appears Astra Zeneca vaccine doesn't work so well against the South African variant, and that exposure to other variants confers no protection against mild or moderate infections by B.1.351.

I don't have my glasses on and read that as "get a nice croissant supply". Ok, I thought.

It sure would. I am extremely disillusioned by this government...I am with most really, but particularly right now.

I'm thinking sometime during the summer now for us...hubby reckons Sept/October.

The government ordered the vaccines and the manufacturer had a break in production; what do you think the government should have done differently, or in addition? The acquisition of ppe was already a big scandal that still has to be combed through.
I have no idea where I am in line for vaccination, but not going to worry about it. The tweaking of vaccines to counter new strains is sort of a race; development and testing time vs rate of spread, so getting a newer mark in the fall could be beneficial.

Why some want a total travel banA 29-year-old man has been charged after allegedly providing a false COVID-19 test result to inspectors at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.

Peel Regional Police say the incident took place on Monday, Feb. 8. at a Canada Border Services Agency inspection point, where a CBSA officer and public quarantine officer were conducting checks.

"When a man's negative COVID-19 document was revealed to be fraudulent, it was, in fact, a positive test result," police said in a news release Wednesday.

Covid numbers in Ontario have steadily been falling since lockdown was implemented on Boxing Day. Yesterday’s figures are now just under 1K...but the numbers are under reported in Toronto.

B.1.525 variant has been found in BC, first of this variant to be found in Canada.

Variant is associated with travel to Nigeria, the person it was found in had recently returned to BC from Nigeria.

904 cases yesterday, 26 deaths. the numbers were over 3,000 around Christmas. We have been locked down since Boxing. It is likely to be lifted somewhat next week.
