That's the argument people have been making since Feb 2020. Thousands of elderly folk all over the world have been dying in a similar way, but their death certificate says they died from COVID because they tested positive for the virus.
Some Trumpers would go as far to say that if you died in a car accident but had a positive COVID test, you would still be marked as dying from COVID.

My father had diabetes from being a young boy. In his early 30’s he had pancreatic cancer. No 1 cause of death on his birth certificate was diabetes millitus, 2nd was pancreatic cancer. |

In the case of poor old Tom, I think it's safe to assume that COVID was a contributory cause, and pneumonia was the underlying cause of his death. |
