Is it not just a store - usually big ones - that sells stuff in big boxes?
Appliances, lawn mowers, flatpack furniture, computers, DIY stuff and larger DIY tools etc |

can’t believe anyone would think any frontline medical/nursing/Pam/ambulance staff don’t deserve and need a place right at the front of the queue.
"Through the system, it has come to our attention that there have been instances in which physicians have attended our clinics and received the second dose of vaccine before they were invited or permitted to do so. These instances will be investigated and may result in disciplinary action." The memo says that at the direction of the provincial health officer and the Health Ministry, first doses are being offered only to high-priority health-care workers and vulnerable people and that a second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine will be administered at about 35 days. |

I tracked down the legal document detailing what you are permitted to do during the 'stay at home order' Ontario, for anyone who might be interested. (opens in new tab - no download should be necessary)

Re: Coronavirus
Hopefully some more doses arrive in BC, we are running low with 89% of the received doses having been administered as of today's update.

Re: Coronavirus
I always thought 'big box stores' were called that because they looked like a big ugly box in the parking lot... no architectural or aesthetic consideration whatsoever, just a functional temple to consumerism.

Re: Coronavirus
By the end of the week, nearly all long term care residents and staff in Vancouver Coastal Health will have received their first dose of vaccine.

Reading the news item, apparently they queue jumped to receive the 2nd dose, not the first - and that is what has got the ministry up in arms.

BC seeking legal advice to see if they can restrict travel to BC from elsewhere in Canada.
British Columbia’s premier says his government is seeking legal advice on whether it can limit non-essential travel from people out of province during the pandemic. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/cana...travel-horgan/ |

Probably not a wall, I imagine if its permitted it will be restrictions on flights and putting RCMP on the highways bordering Alberta. But then how does one prove their travel is essential and what is considered essential? The whole essential thing is confusing as there are too many definitions on what is and isn't essential.
I guess such restrictions may put off a few, not quite what impact it has is another matter. Probably needs to be Internal Passports to make this work. |

Over here on Jeremy Vine today they were discussing the 2nd shots question. Apparently the Phizer vaccine gives you 90% immunity with the 1st dose and only an extra 5% with the 2nd shot. A doctor was arguing that all NHS staff should have both shots within 3 weeks recommended by Phizer and not have to wait the 12 weeks as HM Gov now want. The Gov say they want to get the 1st shot and therefore the 90% immunity into as many people as possible before starting the 2nd doses which kind makes a lot of sense to me looking at it in terms of bang for your buck.
If it's all true, and the first dose doesn't 'wear off' before the second one saves it, it hardly seems worth the second one. |
