Pay the tenner a month to IC. The service fee is then only 2% instead of 5% and the other fixed fee isn't charged. Min order then is only $35. Shop twice a month and you save money already.

I may look into it next month's trip, the min order is pretty low at the moment in this region, $10 or $15 depending on store, seems different stores have different minimums.

Costco is now in IC at least here in parts of BC for anyone with a membership that wants to avoid going into the chaotic stores.

But tip well for Costco, its a super difficult shop because its all bulk size, and more time consuming.

I have noticed here that IC doesn't do within 2 hours (at least the times I have tried) but its within 5 hours, guess less shoppers here most likely.

Over 1% of Americans have been tested positive at some point now, thats more than 1 in 100 people, The question is, how much of the community has to be positive for infection rates to really take off? How long until we are up to 10% of the population?

Now that is a classic case of a partial quote not having the meaning of the full one, which was obviously a joke.

Sorry but I'm just not getting the Xenophobia vibe from Canada. I know people that have landed there in the last month and post quarantine they've been welcomed with open arms.

It appears to me its the non quarantined folk they have a dislike for, which im sort of with them on.

Do you honestly think large families of Americans visiting small towns in national parks with limited hospitals, road tripping brits hitting 10 towns in 10 days etc is what Canada needs right now. Whilst the travel restrictions are possibly a bit stricter than ideal it allows quarantine to be policed, allowing more folk in would just been quarantine rules could be flouted with less chance of getting caught.

I think they have kept the disease at bay very well compared to their southern neighbours.

That's not exactly tough, you could apply that same logic to every country in the first world.

I'm not sure if forcing people from every single country into a 14 day quarantine period is really "welcoming them with open arms" and Crofty82's recent thread about his experience travelling from LGW to Toronto sounded like something from dystopian fiction. You're right though, unlike the US, they are still accepting new immigrant applications and there have even been PNP draws over the last few weeks which is quite surprising considering the current levels of unemployment. If the PR card processing times I saw over the weekend are anything to go by, they are also working to clear the backlog and return some immigrant services back to normal. Apparently people who applied for PR cards in March when the travel ban was enacted are finally starting to receive AOR's.

Saying that, some of the comments I've seen on CBC News stories and the like have been nothing short of horrific. Bizarrely some of those same people also have the barefaced cheek to go on and accuse Britain of being a populist country.

I've been a bit surprised at comments on CBC news items on the covid issue in New Brunswick. Well, more than a bit really. Fortunately there are voices of reason there too. Mine is obviously one of them.

What I found especially amusing is there's a bunch of people saying you can't have the borders closed/economic standstill forever - completely failing to see that A) many more things are open for business because there has been a gradual reopening and B) nobody is suggesting it's permanent and even funnier is these same people complaining about Prince Edward Island hosting the players and officials of 8 football teams - about 300 people altogether to get some semblance of a soccer football season done.

England, Germany, Spain and Italy (probably others too) have just shown that football can be played with all sorts of protocols and testing with thousands of players, officials, TV broadcasting people etc travelling to the 18-20 venues in each country over a couple of months and there hasn't been a single positive test result. Same thing with England and West Indies cricket.

The tournament on PEI will have benefits to the economy (rather than the standstill these people are concerned about) and they are all in one place with each team isolated between games and a shorter overall period. Providing they stick to protocols - just like everyone is supposed to - it should be no problem.

I don't know if it's permanence that's bothering people so much as perpetual nature of the whole thing. The US/CAN border will one day re-open if it's just so one tribe of feral cave people can trade raw meat and grunt with another in a post-apocalyptic landscape. The problem is that people want to get back to their normal lives and governments are not only preventing them from doing that but at times are also treating them like children. I think the patience and goodwill that a lot of people might have had in March and April might now be starting to spread a little thin.
