The Moderna vaccines scheduled for next week are delayed until end of the month possibly first week of May.

Pfizer will continue at 1 million per week through May but is due to ramp up to 2 million per week in June.

This is going to be more akin to the flu shot - booster dose every year or so to reflect variants in effect. At least until enough of the world is vaccinated to reduce the prevalence of variants.

Jeez, what a logistical nightmare this will be for the world.
Last time I checked, only 1/3 of Canadians get the flu shot, I wonder if this number will increase if it includes protection from COVID?

Once everybody's been at least offered a Covid vaccination, this thing'll probably then have to be left to 'slow-burn' through society thereafter (relying upon a % of folks getting annual shots, 'herd immunity,' behavioural changes, etc.). Eradicating this new virus is likely not a realistic goal at this unfortunate point.

If flu shot was universally free for all in Canada, I wonder if more would get it? Last fall when it was free in BC, uptake increased so much it was difficult to get one.

Most years I didn't bother with flu shot as it cost $30-$40 but if free sign me up. Although last year I never did secure one, every appointment I made was cancelled due to no stock at the pharmacy come appointment day.

Seems people in Whistler are still hanging out in groups in close proximity to one another.

You have to expect that, and since summer is right around the corner the central and south Okanagan is probably going to have a mitt-full of outbreaks just like last year; some from stupid parties, some from crowded worker housing, some from tourism or just because it's on the highway, and some just for spite.
edit to add long term care homes.

We may hit 2,000 cases a day by May if things keep up here in BC.

1,205 new cases today, 3 additional deaths.

Hospitalizations being driven by 40 to 79 age group.

Record high hospitalizations, 409 with 125 of those in ICU

Seems high. Britain (4.5X population) was at its worst 60K per day.

Frighteningly high. Ontario’s numbers have, until recently, always been very good in comparison to other countries. Now they are getting out of control. Hospital doctor friends said before Christmas, they were preparing for a second wave at the end of March. They were spot on, so yes the latest predictions are very worrisome.

The situation in Grey County, slightly north of here, is alarming. Everyone is asked to stay home for 48 hours while the authorities attempt contact tracing of recent cases; that process is difficult because people routinely lie to them.

Global were saying 3000 a day is possible! Yet we haven't heard anything more from Dr Henry except that they were right to close indoor dining. Are we expecting more measures anytime soon? Or are we heading down the same old "please adhere to our guidance" messages.
