Re: Coronavirus
I was looking at the Downtown webcams earlier and there was hardly anyone walking.
People treating it more seriously or used to doing as they're told?

BC announced their assistance plans, renters will have to wait a few more days though, province hasn't announced those plans yet.
- $2.8 billion in support for individuals and $2.2 billion for businesses.
-one-time $1,000 tax-free benefit for British Columbians unable to work due to crisis. (if eligible for EI and federal care benefit)
- companies with payroll over 500,000 can defer employer health tax payments
- Various provincial tax deadlines extended until Sept 30
- April 1 increase of carbon tax, PST on sweetened carbonated drinks, PST registration on e-commerce delayed and their timing will be reviewed by Sept 30.
- $1.7 billion for critical services.
- increasing and expanding the B.C. Climate Action Tax Credit in July 2020. 86 per cent of British Columbians will see some extra money from this enhancement.

The non essential goods will be difficult. Sure you can close a gift shop or whatever but "Shopping for necessities" may be a problem.
Who determines what's essential? And if it's okay to buy milk, eggs what about a pack of bacon and you may as well have a bottle of coke and a bar of chocolate while you're there. And what if you're collecting your essential prescription from one of those big pharmacies that also sell those things?

Re: Coronavirus
I know of someone who's daughter flew back from Dominican Republic (with a couple of friends) to Montreal on Sunday and on arrival was handed a pamphlet 'suggesting' they might want to self isolate for 14 days - nothing compulsary. After staying in Montreal for the night they got on an internal flight to Alberta. If any of them had CV19 then they potentially infected hundreds... they should make self isolation compulsary for ALL travellers - Canadian or visitors - and restrict taking internal flights until they are cleared.

Re: Coronavirus
I got laid off today, not unexpected, Grandad 94 in UK is in Hospital with Pneumonia, sore throat and a cough, is awaiting covid test results, is not allowed visitors.
my grill element on the oven has conked out and the washing machine is filling with water when it's off.
Early May visitors have cancelled, one half is stuck in the US, the other half at home in Germany, they are mid -late 70's, our late May visitors are looking into rebooking for next year.
I am going to buy some craft supplies and dog food tomorrow when I pick up my letter from work and then cocoon myself. Puppy will miss out on essential socialising and may cause issues in the future, hoping to at least be able to book her into a groomer in the next two weeks before everything is shut down.
OH is still working at the moment, his place of work laid off 21 on Friday.
stay safe peeps.

my Pom could do with a haircut but I will not risk going to the groomers. Instead I’ve ordered hair clippers from Amazon. Hubby needs a hair cut too...he doesn’t realise I will be practising on him using the same clippers.

Re: Coronavirus
Well I went to get my 'lay off' letter to day and it was busy at work, I was asked to hold off applying for EI. I am now doing 10-1 5 days a week (usual shift is 8-1). I'd rather do that than stare at 4 walls. I'm pretty sure we will be on lockdown soon anyway.
I will pick up a supply of dog food on Wednesday as that's when Pet smart gets it's delivery, then aside from groceries we will be set up. I did get some mini clippers for doing in between Nushkas toes. She is great in the bath and even doesn't mind my hair dryer, it's as she gets bigger we might struggle lol. We should have a 'I groomed my own pup ' thread if this goes on and on.

No word if the Hawaiian crew is staying in Vancouver, flying to Seattle or another US city though, doubt the plane or crew will go back to Hawaii tonight, would be a long day, and might exceed crew limits if done round trip same day. But Hawaiian Airlines is a rare visitor to Vancouver, too bad the plane is arriving so late.
