So they can book it if back in the UK? Just not before you travel.

You need to have a GP to get a vaccine. Without a GP you are not on the vaccine list.

Complete the discussion. if you are not registered how you register.

I seem to remember that if you have not been to your GP for some time you could be purged after a certain period, 5 years?

We were discussing the fact that one cannot travel to the UK in order to get the vaccine.

While the UK death figures remain depressingly high (a reflection of the very high case rates 2 weeks ago) the case rate has been falling over the last week. This will have been influenced by the additional restrictions imposed but, I hope, also by the vaccination programme which has been running for over a month.

No. As above, British expats aren’t eligible. Only those residing in the UK are.

Seems fair enough to me, imagine the outcry if it was discovered people who’d chosen to move abroad had decided to return just to use the NHS and queue jump!

If we haven’t had ours by the time we leave in July then we’ll just wait our turn in the US.

COVID-19 testing and treatment

No charges for coronavirus (COVID-19) testing and treatment

Overseas visitors to England, including anyone living in the UK without permission, will not be charged for:
  • testing for COVID-19 (even if the test shows they do not have COVID-19)
  • treatment for COVID-19
No immigration checks are needed for overseas visitors if they are only tested or treated for COVID-19.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-enti...t-health-guide

OK I suppose technically it says they will not be charged not that they will get it. Nothing I have come across suggests this is an issue.

We know Canadians on Holiday in Florida are getting it, what's the difference?

Presumably because testing is in the nation's interest and treatment counts as emergency treatment which the NHS just does regardless.

The Vaccine sounds like neither and is presumably subject to payment.

I know the vaccine in the US is free to the patient, I can not imagine UK charges for it. Vaccine is a treatment.

Preventative surely.

Don't you treat someone for a condition they already have? In which case a vax is too late.

It is a preventative...not a treatment. Visitors can get treated for Covid...not vaccinated.
