Colon Cancer Screening - DIY test

I exaggerate the DIY aspect but...Screening for colorectal cancer - Canadian Cancer Society

If you are aged 50 to 74 and not at high risk for colorectal cancer, have a stool test every 2 years.
I just followed the procedure this morning and popped it in the mail.

I had a few concerns - does the 'tissue' provided cover the water or do waves lap over the sides? Does it sink like the Titanic before you get the sample?

But it was all easy enough

Except a plunger was needed after

Mail?

I had to take mine to the lab myself.

Just one morning? Three days of poop smears needed before popping in the mail.

Once I've deciphered your question I think as long as the water was just water then underwater sampling might be ok.

Three? They only ask for one here.

Seems to be a lot of variation when I googled.
A bit from both ends and the middle I read on one.

Some places involve a drop of a solution (CSI style?) and others a card, without the sample ever leaving the bathroom.

I liked the tracking capability on the envelope. Yeah, like I'm going to track that.

A bit closer for me. Just had to be dropped off at the same lab that does blood and other stuff. 4 km or so.

We have this configuration. Three poops, three sticks and six samples. We're special in Ontario.

When I did my test I had 2 cards similiar to the one's bats posted, a vial with liquid in it to add a sample, and a vial with no liquid.

I do know on the cards one they found blood, one they did not. I think I had to do them a day or 2 apart as well.

I kind of miss the colonoscopy.

A 5 minute walk to the hospital, no discomfort and floating home after.

I could do without the colonoscopy, but so far each time I haven't managed to avoid it.

Colonoscopy naps are the best sleeps ever. I could do the prep bit monthly if it meant having those sleeps afterwards!

I'm interested in this poop test thing.

Will see if I can get this here in NZ.

As one who has to suffer the indignity of a colonoscopy annually, I can def say the scope itself is the best bit. The prep, however, is a different matter entirely
