Default Colchester Scottish Society

Colchester Scottish Society are looking for new members.
We came to Canada wanting to become Canadians! But, living in Nova Scotia you can't get away from being 'Scottish'. We were stopped when someone heard our accent and asked if we would like to come along to a St Andrews night at the Western Glengarry in Truro organised by the Colchester Scottish Society!
We didn't take them seriously, but on the night in question we decided to go and yes we WERE on the guest list and so was an ex premier, who had us mentioned in his speech.
We were so impressed by these people trying to uphold Scottish Traditions (most of them 2nd, 3rd or even 4th generation Scots) that we joined $5/head/year. Sadly alot of them are older people and they are lacking in new youngsters joining. (so that's why we were the highlight of the evening!) So we are asking all you Scots who live in the Truro/Colchester area to think about coming along to one of their events. (Usually a musical evening, Burns supper etc...)
Please contact me if you are interested in finding out more.

I don't think so. Most people there have Scottish roots of some sort, but most of the people we met were Canadian.

Surely you must have a distant relative that is Scottish, or once visited Scotland - that's all most Scottish Canadians seem to need to be Scottish

There are two types of people in this world. The Scots (insert any nationality here) and those who are f****** glad they're not.
