Cochrane

We are in Cochrane house hunting at the minute, and was wondering if anyone could give us any reviews on the new home builders in the area. We have looked at sunset ridge for now and seen a few houses we like, but are just wondering on the build quality. Thanks :D

We are in the Gleneagles area of Cochrane - highly recommended area. Every house gets a view of some sort!

We looked at many houses in Cochrane - including a couple in Sunset. My husband is in the construction industry and I'll be honest with you - he was appalled at the poor quality of the 2 we looked at. Be aware of houses that are around 4 years old - built during the big boom - they were put up very hastily. Some signs to look out for - make sure you check the basements out - I think most are undeveloped in that area. The two we looked at had huge cracks in the concrete and in some parts was uneven. Not good!

Hope that helps and happy househunting! Cochrane is a great town! :)

We're on Gleneagles too, and love it. We looked at Sunset, Heritage, River Song and the Bow Ridge area, and Gleneagles did it for us. Been here just over 12 months with no plans to move. Lovely area, polite children, and very quiet.

Goodluck, and if you need any help/advice just give us a shout.

Thanks for the replies. We ended up buying a house in Heritage Hills and move in end of next month.

Ditto, good luck! You'll love Cochrane!

Poppit, how long have you lived here? Are you from the UK? We just moved into our house a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still finding my way around!

Nice, Heritage Hills seems nice, we've looked around there; might buy there next year.

We live in a rented house just outside the centre of town at the moment, probably buying spring/summer next year :)

Hi Cowgirl

We arrived in Canada almost 14 months ago, and have lived on Gleneagles for just over 12 months. We're in a cul-de-sac backing on to the golf course, so it's very quiet.

Cochrane's a great town to come home to after working in the city. I love the view of the mountains as I approach Cochrane.

How you liking your new home? Are you on East or West? We are on East.

Hi Cowgirl

Yes, we are from the UK.

Born in Lancashire, went to school in a lovely village called Whalley; moved to Bury when I got a teaching job in Manchester. Taught in Manchester for 15 years, and moved to West Yorkshire Oct 2004.

How about you?
