That was the reason I ended up going with an IKEA mattress. After seven previous attempts. In a year. Anyway my solution to protecting the mattress is not just to have a mattress cover, you can get totally airtight ones, but also to have a mattress topper which makes the whole thing more comfortable anyway. E.g. you get a latex mattress and a latex topper as well. |

Try using a steam cleaner to 'lift' the stain rather than add more liquid to dilute the stain. I have read somewhere before that the worst thing to do is clean a mattress stain using soap and water as it makes the stain look worse.
