Civilization Rules, with food!

A happy thought for some...Great British Baking is returning to PBS on July 1st!

It is such sheer delight...people behaving well, trying hard and being supportive! Makes me proud to be a Brit!

It's funny, my son and husband are compulsive viewers, neither has the slightest desire to bake...I hate sugar, and don't eat cake, let alone bake, but ten minutes into this programme and I can feel the overwhelming desire to get a bowl and cream my butter!:o

So much nicer than Masterchef....

I'm a fairly recent covert to gbbo, via comic relief, but I LOVE it. The temptation for the bbc to fix it with a euro winner must be immense. Even a French wo/man would do. ( as long as they made a raspberry tart. Many of my holidays en France have featured significant numbers of those...) I'm even a fan of the sewing version, despite struggling to even reliably attach a button.:o

Edited to add - can't even watch Masterchef. Too much talking with their mouths full.

I use the word 'even' waaaaay too much.

That's better- back to properly relevant stuff, never mind Brexit. I bloody love Bakeoff!

Interesting comment...what did you mean?

I haven't seen the GBBO, but I am a fan of the GB Sewing Bee. Everyone is just so *nice* (except the silly presenter, but I'll overlook her), & the highest drama is usually no more than a mismatched pattern, or a wonky zip :)

My Canadian boyfriend is hardcore into Bake Off, he's thrilled!

I love that it's the kind of reality tv that actually shows people being real normal functioning people, rather than the narcissistic crap that other shows end up sinking to.

Ooh, is there a sewing one too? I'll have to have a look. I got two Bake Off books for Christmas, it's making my weight loss a struggle, especially when I can't decide on just one thing to bake ;)

Sorry Millie but its Masterchef (Can and US) all the way for us :D

I like cooking and baking savouries but not very good at cakes - too scientific for me.
