CIC PNP Survey...

becoming pr through the bcpnp in 2007, i've been in the line-up for the citizenship test for 14 months or so. i therefore was quite exited to find an envelope with the cic crest in the mail yesterday.

only to find out that cic supposedly is asking "for your consent to participate in a survey" re the provincial nominee program.

it isn't dated, but besides that the letter looks quite official to me.
nevertheless my hair curls when i read

The information will be collected by a survey firm on behalf of Citizenship and Immigration Canada. [...]
and

You may be contacted by e-mail, telephone or mail. [...] Your answers will be linked with information you have previously provided to Citizenship and Information Canada during your immigration process. All information will be used anonymously to improve future programs for the benefit of future participants. Please note that all personal information collected during the survey will be anonymous. No one will know what you say.
bold part by them.

what lets my alarm bells ring:

- if they got my mail address out of their file (the numbers on top of the address are not even close to my then file number) they have my e-mail-address and phone number as well as the communication language. why do they want me to provide that again (the according fields are empty)?

- if answers are linked with the information in my file they WILL exactly know what i say. who do they think they are kidding?

- there's nowhere a disclosure that the information provided (by cic [my file] and me [this form]) is only used for this particular survey i'd consent to with my signature.

despite being on the national no call list i've been pestered by too many telemarketers and cold callers lately - i don't need to open that door even more by signing a form that allows a unnamed "survey firm hired by CIC" to contact me.

do i want to jeopardize my citizenship application, filed with the same ministry, by refusing to participate in this? unlikely...

nicely played...

i think some detective work is in order before i send this form back blindly.

Err, well, don't consent if you feel that way.

What's the point of this thread?
