Chilean Raspberry Scam

Seems some companies in Montreal and Chile found a creative way to get Chinese raspberries to Canada.

Berries went China to New Zealand middleman before going onto Chile, then re-packaged in Chile, before being sent onto to Canada.

Interesting article.

Re: Chilean Raspberry Scam

It would be easy for fruit from almost anywhere to get lost in the shipments of fruit from Chile - the fruit export business in Chile is truely staggering in size, and includes many different fruits, though possibly not bananas or strawberries.

According to this web site, Chile exports 2.6 million tons of fruit per year! That is equivalent to a minimum (per maximum permitted weight) of 108,000 standard 40ft international frieght containers, or one every five minutes 24/7/365.
