Cheez Whiz

On my recent visit to Calgary, I could not help but notice that every home had big humongous jars of Cheez Whiz in their fridges.

In the supermarket they were stacked pallets high by the entrance and on any available floor space.

What's the deal with this stuff? What do they do with it?

It's looks like liquid processed cheese to me, and it looks as though it would taste pretty vile.

What do people do with it? I'm curious :o

It's exactly that - spread it on toast, crackers etc or use it as a dip.

Doesn't taste too bad, though I'm sure someone will be along shortly to disagree (DBD?)

Correct, it's bottled vomit.

It's chemical spillage from Iraq, circa1991. Unfit for human consumption and probably the cause of Gulf War Syndrome.

 at the replies so far..

Keep em coming

When I was there we decided to make some Tortillas, and I said I was popping out to the shop to get some cheese.

I was met with a rather shocked response "But we have cheese here!", I asked where and was presented with this bottle of orange "stuff".

I did try and be diplomatic, and say that the food would taste nicer with grated cheddar on it...oops! The host appeared to be mortified, so I told her it was a "UK Special" and she should try it.

Thankfully she liked it.

There are some things that one just has to draw the line at :lol:

I've never put any in my mouth. It looks as if it might be useful for repairing leaky boats.

Looks as though you could add flour to it, make play dough and give it to the kids to play with.

Few things are worse than what comes out of it.

tbh i spread it on a sandwhich when I run home from work at lunch - add it to milk and make a cheese sauce thing to go over pasta, put it on toast in the morning - or sit messing about on BE with a jar of it by my side and some cheese biscuits and a knife or dollop some over a jacket spud :o

Told you real classy bird me

(Rich I do know where the line is - it's just so far away its more of a dot tbh!) ;)

We bought some when we first got here as part of trying all things Canadian. Not too impressed with it I have to say. However, the dogs are very partial to some - particularly with bacon bits are sprinkled on the top. Almost finished the jar though, and somehow i doubt more will be bought! (until our next visitors come obviously).
