Car Hire - Nova Scotia
Hi, can anyone recommend a good car hire company for a couple of weeks in March - pick up from the Halifax area?
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Car Hire - Nova Scotia
I always book with airline network.
They have about the most comprehensive insurance. You can get an upgrade at a a very low price that includes a 2nd driver and a tank of fuel. They use the thrifty desk at the airport. You need a swipe of a credit card for a security deposit and you can drive away in about 10-15 minutes. The cars are all pretty new and I have always found them to be one of the cheapest. http://www.airline-network.co.uk |

Thrifty is just as you come through the customs door and I find them the cheapest. Pick up and return is right outside

Enterprise are quite good also. we are coming over mid Jan and they have quoted cheaper for extra driver, fuel purchase option, unlimited km's, personnel accident than thrifties base rate for the same type of vehicle. I guess its a case of searching for the best deals on the vehicle you want. However in the past it's been the other way round also so swings and roundabouts
cheers |

Re: Car Hire - Nova Scotia
Whoever you choose to hire a vehicle from you should bring over every piece of correspondance you have because I am not the only person who has turned up to hire a car and been told that the rate on their computer is different to the 'PAID IN FULL' balance I had on my paperwork. Stand your corner and pay out no additional fees!
Another thing, March is winter here so I would consider hiring a 4-wheel drive. Car hire companies here never seem to put winter tires on their vehicles. A 4x4 handles better in winter weather. I am glad I bought winter tires for my CRV as I notice a great difference driving with them. Although we plough and sand our driveway we have seen people with no winter tires struggle to get up if there has been fresh snowfall - we drive up no problem. Hope you enjoy your trip in March. We did not have much in the way of snow last winter. It was very cold but with blue skies and sunshine. :D |
