Can't anyone read road signs in Canada...

There's one cross junction I use every day for work, duel carriagway each side and lights.

When I return home, I need to turn right. On this particular road, the right lane is a filter lane which joins the road as a new lane, i.e. 2 lanes coming from left which changes to 3 once our lane joins.

There is no stop sign, no lines on the road, nothing, simply because the third lane is our lane. The only sign up says as much.

BUT every day I'm waiting behind someone who stops and waits for a gap in the traffic before moving off. Its unbelievable.

On Friday I was waiting once more in frustration about to do the usual and excercise my right to beep my horn at the lunatic holding up traffic, when I realised it was a POLICE CAR!!!!!

Yes, I'm a coward.

You sound just like my hubby lol. Theres a particular right turn that joins in pretty much the same way as you are saying - ie right hand lane is the filter lane so it doesn't go straight on - and then joins a dual carriageway.

You can guarantee that at least 75% of the queue is indicating right, to which my hubby yells - without fail - e v e r y time "what the hell are they indicating for??? You can only go right, it's not like there's another option".

I once tried to explain that it's probably force of habit to a lot of drivers to indicate when they are turning, but it obviously didn't work so I now just agree and say "oh that's so annoying honey isn't it"

I usually pause in these type of lanes only because the people already on the road the turn lane turns into (i.e. people in left lane) quite often go 'oooh a right lane, i'll pull in without looking'. So I do it to check I'm not about to be side swiped.

Six of one half a dozen of the other. If there is someone behind you like the OP or me, you risk being rear ended, because you do have the right of way and whoever is behind wouldn't be expecting you to stop.
