Just wondering if anyone else caught the irony in the storm off the coast of Guerrero, Mexico being named Hurricane Bud....

I see the date to legally purchase recreational marijuana has been pushed back to August or early September. I was looking forward to getting stoned on Canada Day.

Hilarious that a country that mostly still takes an almost puritan approach to alcohol regulation just legalised recreational use of a dangerous narcotic.

By the end of this year you will be able to legally order weed over the internet in most provinces but you still can't buy a four pack of beers from the supermarket.

You could not have expressed my sentiments better DG. Alcohol brings quite a large number of Canadians out in a quiver but they think that legalizing cannabis is fine? Then getting in a car and driving will be no doubt fine too...this is an ill thought out money grab and Canada is going to make a dogs breakfast out of it.

Exactly. When I first saw this, the potential tax revenue was what immediately jumped to mind. The Canadians are often worse than the British or the yanks when it comes to the government wanting their piece of the pie.

There are laws in place regarding driving under the influence of marijuana (or other drugs) - just the same as there are for drink driving. Many of the Canadians I know don't bat an eyelid at drink driving - I know others that joke that its easier than trying to walk home drunk.

Personally, I'd rather be around someone who is stoned than someone who is drunk. The stoner likely will just want to go and get some food and have a laugh... the drunk may well want a punchup - or worse. I've never met a person who is stoned that is abusive or confrontational... I've met plenty of drunk people who only get that way when they have been drinking.

I do agree that the Govt are seeing it as a money spinner though! I'm all for decriminalizing it.. the money wasted on policing it can be better spent elsewhere.

Just for the record, I don't nor have I ever, imbibed, in case you think I am biased!

Should be interesting to see how distributors will be positioned in Ontario now that the PC are in power here.

Well, I myself don't class pot as "dangerous", and am pleased to see its consumption legalised. In my personal observation, vastly more young lives have been ruined by prison sentences for possessing it than have been for smoking it. Am I a minority on The Maple Leaf?

Absolutely not. I agree with you 100% and I am very happy to see it legalized.

Last Summer I was in Vegas and thought I'd try out their legal weed process. Honestly, I was very impressed. Prove your age, prove your identity, hand over your cash, choose your weed, and off you go. It wasn't at all like I had expected.
The guy asked me what kind of high I wanted, I explained, he suggested a specific strain, and off I went.

Beats buying a bag of god knows what from a friend of a friend.

I agree with this but, but cannabis has been shown to alter the brains of people under the age of 26.

I don't believe that old pony. This research didn't find any evidence.

I think people just presume weed kills brain cells as most hard core stoners act like Bill & Ted.

I'm sure booze kills off a few brain cells. I woke up last Saturday morning and had no recollection of how I got home, or why I had a missing tooth.

When you say you had a missing tooth, do you mean you had lost a tooth, or had found one belonging to someone else? I'm not saying you should care either way, but I'm just wondering...
