Yep he's one in a million. Your friends might know him, or his family, as Kimberley is a small town. I'll PM you the family name. Glad you've settled well in Sask... have you found any other Welshmen/women near you?

Haha. I was thinking when I met you and your OH at MEC for the "stuff from the UK exchange" the he had some slight English accent of some sort. I guess if you live somewhere long enough, you start to pick it up.

Hi rwin... how are you keeping? I'll next be in Calgary in August, so put in your request for more squashed-fly cookies if you want some

We have a St David's Society so I've got to meet a few expats, some who have been here for years and years and a few new one like us. We had a St David's Day Banquet in the Legion in Regina a lovely beef dinner mmmmm

They had a faggots a peas supper recently but it was the night before we moved so had loads to do.

NOBODY talks like people from Hull (I'm not insulting Hulligans ... well, maybe a little )

When I went to Barrie, ON for an interview for my last job I met a girl from Largs in Scotland who was working on the team I ended up joining. When my would be manager introduced us and we chatted (I have one of those obvious Northern accents but you wouldn't know what town I was from) he commented on how we sounded just like each other

I really don't know how people can't hear the difference between a heavy Scottish accent and a slightly plummy English one. I would understand them confusing me with an Australian more!

.. and on the subject of accents ... I haven't heard as many 'regional dialects' as I have since I've been in Nova Scotia - Yarmouth and Digby are quite distinct from each other, people down Digby Neck are definitely different again and that's just round here. I have a colleague from New Glasgow and one from Antigonish who both sound different and I know Cape Bretoners and Halifax peeps have different accents. I never heard nuch difference in Ontario and I have a friend from AB who says that she can't say there's any particular variation within AB like there is here.
