Default Canadian Potatoes!

Does anyone else think that some Canadian potatoes taste like disinfectant? Nearly choked on my shepherds pie last night. Bleuch!! Have bought 2 different brands that taste like this (or soap according to my son) Don't think it is the water as this has happened in 2 different places. It's murder!!

Errm. No, I've not noticed that. I think the problem might be at your end not the potato's.

No, they taste OK, especially Yukon Gold. I find it tiresome that there are so many blemishes and black bits in them though, that and the lack of new potatoes in the shops but the spuds are fine.

I speak as an expert, I love spuds, me.

I do and am just about to go out and dig a few up for supper. First crop this year. Nothing like a salad with a few Jerseys dabbed with butter and a sprig of fresh mint

You never know, see what sort of crop I get. I got them from a buddy, he only gave me a dozen for seed and I had to cut them in 4 to get a decent row! Apparently he took a few years of growing seed before he even cooked a single spud.

I try not to think about potatoes too much. If I did, I might find myself on the nearest plane back to the homeland and that could turn into an expensive habit. I suppose there would be less jetlag involved by indulging instead in gigolos and coke.
