Canadian Equivalent Qualifications
Will a job-seeker with a British university degree, post graduate diploma in software engineering and 10 years work experience need do apply for accreditation?

YES: IQAS and any other professional accreditation you can get. Some on this forum talk about 'equivalencies' but when you're here you will find the qualifications accepted must be from Canadian institutions and proof of any 'equivalency' lies with you, hence IQAS. Also most employers here are hung up on the grade 12 diploma. |
Re: Canadian Equivalent Qualifications
A degree certificate and transcript is all I have ever been asked for.
Vocational qualifications are a different matter altogether. If your degree is part of a vocational qualification (law and medicine spring to mind) then they will need to be evaluated. If it is just to prove you are a graduate then they don't. |

Odd isn't it but that's what they ask to see - the qualifications I gained at age 16 and 18 in the UK. WHY? |

Re: Canadian Equivalent Qualifications
We have a similar situation to you... my husband is an architect, and although has his masters and part 3 etc, if he gets a job, he will not be able to call himself an architect or stamp off any papers... its all very frustrating.
We will get there with a few modifications though, I hope. Am planning a recce trip after xmas and we just intent to meet with our prospective employers and find out what 'the real deal' is. Everyone on this forum have all had different experiences, so it is really hard to get a proper answer that is really relevant to your own position. I am a nurse curently trying to get on the Nova Scotia nursing Register. My Story seems to be quite different from the other nurses going through the same process. and for some reason more complicated and time consuming than others.... It all just seems a bit of a lottery!! Anyway. Good luck. Will keep you posted as to how we get on with our trip and interviews and what the general concencus of opinion was... Sorry no concrete answer to give! |

(though point taken, my comment was rather redundant) |

After spending 2 years in BC we moved to NS and he now works for a practice in Halifax. Email me and I can give you some tips. Good luck, |
