As anyone flown on canadian affair from uk to canada,

what is the service like

do you have to pay for food and drinks

can you take a flight bag and a handbag on board

whats the leg from like


thinking of using them cheap winter flights

Yes we have used them and they offer some good prices on flights. They use Thomas Cook, My Travel and Air Transit as there air carriers. We have flown with all 3 and found them to be all pretty good.

Luggage and hand luggage should all be on the web site.:)

Food and drinks came in the price of the ticket.

Leg room is about standard. I found them to be be small but then I am tall, my wife who is not so tall was fine with them.

Yes I've used them a few times and they were pretty good.
You get what you pay for though.
Don't expect luxury but the planes were clean, staff helpful and you mostly get seat back TV's if your interested in watching telly.

You can't take a handbag and flight bag, but thats true of most airlines now anyway isn't it?

Meals are free but you pay for drinks, unless you upgrade to premium which gives you much roomier seats, 30kg luggage allowance and free drinks.

They use different airlines, MyTravel, Thomas Cook and now Globespan/Air Transat. We found the Thomas Cook flights gave us the most legroom, I'm talking cm's here so not sure how much extra you need, but it's worth upgrading to Premium if you can.

They don't actually fly during the winter months, they only operate May to end of October. Zoom is your winter low cost airline.

Me and my husband had a horrible flight home with Canadian Affair! 18 hours delayed and then took two hours to get our luggage! I'm sure this was a one off but it's put me off( although my husband books all our holiday stuff so i may be sadly dissappointed next time we fly!) I'm 5"4 and i was ok i the seats. No where near as much space as air Canada but thats the price difference.
My only big advice would be to buy some water the other side of the security to take on the plane as in nine hours we were offered two cups of water (could have asked for more, i know, but i hate being a pain) . So had a huge head ache when we got off the plane. Air Canada had offered us free drinks and bottles of water.
If i had the choice i would pay more, as a rubbish flight, i feel, can really piss me off!!
You get what you pay for. Hope thats of some help and not too negative! (The fight out to Canada was fine, just the water situation). Our flight was Thomas Cook.

Thomas Cook....don't get me started. I posted the summary of my "dreadful flight" in "maple leaf" last weekend. Having said that, I agree about the legroom though...the most I've had on a plane anywhere.

Incidentally. How do you clever folk create a link to another thread? I haven't figured that one out yet.

We flew recently with them. very helpful, smooth flights, standard leg room. I echo previous post, once through departure get some water to take on the plane, not much offered, saying that we will use them again.

Hi Icedcoffee, we flew with AirTransat when we moved to Vanc in September and we thought they were brilliant. My partner is a really really nervous flyer and honestly he was like a completely different person on this flight. I think it was because the flight wasn't full so we had three seats for the two of us so had plenty of room which chilled him out loads, but it was a really smooth flight too and no problems or delays boarding.

We had to pay for excess baggage which we knew we would as we had 2 MASSIVE suitcases each but that only came to about 100GBP. It should have cost more but we asked if he'd do it for that amount and the check-in guy was fine. When we were looking for flights we found that most airlines charge 7-8GBP per extra kilo your over which I think Air Transat do on weeekends but we flew on a Friday and it was only 3.50 per kilo (we also got this in writing from them before hand - we just e-mailed them explaining our situation (emigrating) and asked if there was anything they could do to lessen the blow).

As other have said it's not an executive airline but the service and comfort we received couldn't have been better. They don't provide you with balnkets etc unless you ask for them but they were more than happy to hand them out. Also we didn't pay any extra for food and still got two meals each. The only other thing was we didn't have seat back TV's but again no biggy as we were only 2/3 rows from the nearest one in the ceiling so had a great view anyway.

I would definitely recommend Air Transat/Canadian Affair.

I just arrived today on an air transit flight with canadian affair.

No problems, plane wasnt full so they asked if i wanted to move to get more room! Meals are free although you pay extra for alcohol and snacks and coke but not coffee or water.
Leg room was ok but im only 5'5.
20kg allowance, 40 if club class. I was slightly over and didnt get charged. What am i gonna be like going home if im over already eek!

Ive flown with the lot air canada, zoom, transit, globespan. For the money your paying with candian affair i cant fault them.

My flight arrived today wed morning to empty custom and immigration line-ups and the only flight to get baggage, quickest ive ever been off a plane to car ever.

Im flying back with thomas cook so we'll see whats that like :) ill let you know

Never. Again.

You can only take one bag on as carry on, not even a laptop or camera bag aswell.

They lied about the cost of overage and refused to agree to the price on the carrier's web site.

I had to wait over an hour to get my luggage in Pearson, and had to find my luggage at Manchester on return to the UK, after they didn't put it on the conveyors, we got off the plane and found our luggage around the sides of the room.

Crappy food, no space in cabin and generally bad service.

we flew with thomas cook last week and it was the most cramped ive ever been on.. ive flown 8 times from canada and back this year. 6 with monarch
and 2 times with TC. TC legroom was much much worse. plus the seat layout means you are more cramped. 3 3 3 as apposed to 2 4 2 on monarch...

Ask me Saturday, we fly with them on Saturday to land as PR. Just read what someone wrote above about hand/cabin luggage. Is that right, where the hell am i supposed to put all this paperwork for immigration??

its true about the hand luggage, folk beside me we'rent even allowed an extra bag of toys for the baby. They looked really helpful with buggys and stuff packing them away for the families at the gate, maybe that was just them being nice.
Our food was quite nice except for the hot scrambled egg breakfast considering im allergic to egg!! never mind my roll was yummy.

As youve already said you get what you pay for.
