Of course, we could always go back to living in caves and doing some small scale farming to get by.... it wouldn't be so much fun living in Canada then. No Tim Hortons!

We chop down trees and burn them. Not at all a green way to live.

The chain saw doesn`t run on wood. The tractor doesn`t run on wood. The operator doesn`t run on wood. Above all though, living in a wood means driving in order to do most things; the responsibly green thing to do is to live in an apartment in a city.

Should you rename yourself "gibbonslanding"? That might excuse the gibberish.

Trees take more carbon out of the atmosphere than they give off when burnt, so it's actually pretty carbon friendly if not altogether clean.

Absolutely the most efficient way of living - an apartment heated by wood or Hydro-Québec. I suspect that will at some point be the only option for a lot of people, but I'll keep by suburban house for now.

Gosh, I never thought I would be happy living in suburbia - how bad have things got?

maybe, for those of you who are under the illusion, that world politics actually 'give a damn' maybe a little light reading on it might help you.....the world runs on money.............end of! and until the world can find away to ride itself of the stuff, we're stuck with 'covering up' of these issue's under the guise of 'we're all trying to be such goody-two-shoes'.......this thread is about the oil sands right? what you actually doing about it? buying a blue balloon no doubt.......oh sorry? gibbering now......

maybe, you should be asking the canadian federal goverment not to keep selling most of it to the usa at stupidly low rates.....'cos when canada needs it in the future (and they will) it'll all be gone....and who ownes it anyways? canada or the usa??????

I just wonder what, in the link to the wiki article on carbon offsets, it is that you imagine supports your drivel?

Mods, for goodness sake close this thread.

The poll result is 3:1 against the oil sands on environmental grounds.

Enough said.
